The Basics: I have an 06 tr, full catless turbo back, sti tmic, walbro, perrin intake and turbo inlet, greddy profec II spec b, Stage 2 tuned at 19 psi, we put 265 awhp and 278 awtq to the rollers, I'm still running my stock turbo.
The Issues: I'm currently on tranny number 3, after launching on the first one and running 13.2 passes with 1.7 60 fts...i learned the hard way that the stock tranny doesnt like harsh launches, my first gear had 2 chipped teeth. Subaru of course wouldnt warranty it because i was honest with them and they knew it was from abuse, and the amount of mods, but they liked my honesty and goodwilled 1/2. They replaced the entire gear set, bearings and synchros. So $1200 later i got my car back. ...(1 month later)...3 nights ago, i installed my sti tmic, well i had a boost leak, so i was turned the boost down and did some searching, finally found it at the bov and fixed the issue, on the test drive i turned the boost back up to about 17psi and was getting on in 3rd gear when all of a sudden around 4500 rpm.. i hear this explosion in my trans and then loud clicking and grinding as i was slowing down. i havent launched my car or beat it up at all since the trans has been rebuilt. when the dealership took a look at it, they came to the conclusion a different gear let go and destroyed the others in the process. Here is the kicker though... Subaru is going to warranty the entire transmission this time. So i need some input on what to do after i get her back. Replace the gear set with RA's or PPG's? Reinforce the case? Better mounts? better bolts? i dont know...i have gotten lots of mixed ideas. I need someone with some knowledge to help me out. Sorry for the long drawn out post...
Thanks in advance.
