How much power can R160 rear differential handle? Does anyone break their r160 rear differential before as a result of huge power?

There is no answer for this, so take every response (if any) with a H U G E grain of salt. It's like asking which is the best turbo? You are gonna get 900 answers that all correlate to nothing.

IMO the R160 Diffs are failing more due to heat than to torque load. If you've ever seen the ring and pinion, they're pretty beefy, but the R160 is more susceptible to heat failure than the R180 counterpart. However if you're putting down 500whp, it's probably a good idea to think about a beefed up R180. :)

I have been running my r160 for about 6 months now with my gt35r with no problems I have a 3.90 R&P gears in mine for my 6 speed also.
