I posted about a spinning wheel going forward, then continuing to spin the same wheel while the other 3 rolled backward. Most people responded I needed better tires. Thanks for the tire info; I knew that.

Someone want to explain how 2003 stock Baja automatic trans vehicle should work, regardless of poor tires?

What I want to know is: what's the point of AWD if one wheel spins and nothing else happens? That's the same as an old fashioned 4wd. I expected another wheel/wheels to start turning and the spinning wheel to stop spinning. And for that sequence to continue, alternating among various wheels - spininng wheel stop, another wheel start trying to turn. In this case it did not happen.

I believe the automatics have an open center and open front. They might have a VC in the rear; I'm not sure. But it's quite possible to spin one front and roll backwards. The combination of the two open diffs and the hill will do this to you.

ps. by most people's use of the term, an "old fashioned 4wd" has a locked center, so it can't spin just one wheel

Only the front is open. Atleast two wheels are spinning. The rear LSD isnt industrial grade. Read the owners manual too.
