Sorry 04 wrx wagon Subie Gal 03-29-2007, 10:22 AM it's a fairly simple installation, but a real pain. you'll need some 3 bond you'll probably need to remove the strainer as well to get the pan off you'll need some very long extensions + angled sockets not fun very messy I hate swapping oil pans.... Jamie http://www.subiegal.com/subiegal-smilie.png (http://www.subiegal.com/) JTJ 2.5 03-29-2007, 11:04 AM Doing mine this weekend....Ill let you know how bad it was. Brighton 03-29-2007, 11:27 AM I stripped mine as an extra indignity after spinning a rod bearing. I figure it'll be easier to replace when the motor's out. How much does a new pan run? How much does a new pan run? got it for 52 shipped. From subarugeniuneparts. 69 at the dealership. Brighton 03-29-2007, 12:14 PM Not so bad. Certainly not the worst car expense I'm in for this month. :) IEcaliWRX 03-29-2007, 12:15 PM it's a fairly simple installation, but a real pain. you'll need some 3 bond you'll probably need to remove the strainer as well to get the pan off you'll need some very long extensions + angled sockets not fun very messy I hate swapping oil pans.... Jamie http://www.subiegal.com/subiegal-smilie.png (http://www.subiegal.com/) Thanks. Is it hard to remove the strainer. I was quoted at 150 to install but if it is simple then I think I will do it my self. IEcaliWRX 03-29-2007, 12:22 PM Not so bad. Brighton 03-29-2007, 12:28 PM http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1228816 Long story short a high mileage, new to me car. First oil change and I put Mobil 1 in. Running theory is it freed up some crud/sludge and blocked an oil passage. Thats all I can figure. There's zero metal evidence in the oil that came out, plenty of metal evidence in the Mobil 1 when it came out. I'll know more when we split the block I guess. (Still shopping for replacements) Aaron'z 2.5RS 03-29-2007, 01:15 PM I've done it and it's just the back 3-4 bolts that are a PITA... Getting it off the block isn't easy either... I donno what 3 bond is, but i use blue RTV without issue.. imisplacedmine 03-29-2007, 01:41 PM Thanks. Is it hard to remove the strainer. I was quoted at 150 to install but if it is simple then I think I will do it my self. I have done the install on my rex and it was such a pain in the ass that I would gladly pay $150 for someone else to do it. Technically it wasn't very hard to do, it was just so time consuming, tedious, and frustrating. That's my opinion on the matter. JTJ 2.5 04-02-2007, 09:40 AM Hondabond For the win (stupid aprils fools) I didnt think it was all that bad. The worst part is the back four bolts. I didnt need to remove the strainer either. |
