Re: thread on WRX monsters featured in "Turbo" Magaazine:

I'd really like to hear about (& See some PIX, please!!) about some tricked-out & modded WAGONS!
I know there are some out there; I wish mine was one of them-
Maybe it will be someday, but until then, anyone got a radical
wagon they would like to show on the board??:D

Are "tricked-out & modded WAGONS" a big thing in Encino?

do a search on wagons and look specifically under dress up and style. there was a thread about this a while ago. there were some pics of wagons with the liberal kits and other such configs. also, if you do a search on vivid racing you can see a wagon w/ the oem uk body kit. hope this helps

I believe a guy on the board with the name riftsWRX has a wagon that has been modded to some insane amount of horsepower. I would do a search or maybe PM him and see if he can send you pictures or tech info about what you can do to a wagon. :)

1) Yeah, we see Pauly all the time here in Encino,he's a BIG STAR!

2) Sorry-Let me translate for Virginia:
"May I please see some photographs and/or statistics pertaining to any WRX Sport wagon models that have been modified from their stock configuration so as to improve performance and/or
cosmetics?" I would be most interested, as here in suburban Los Angeles, these type of vehicles hold an appeal for a limited number of enthusiasts."

How pathetic that the only comment you can make on the subject is related to pauly shore. You strike me as the kinda guy who comes to LA and wants to go to planet hollywood to see all them movie stars.

I just rode in his wagon with 3 other passangers...on an empty road from a stop at 11pm. He got the car up to 60 in 5.33 seconds. Ok. Lets figure this out. 3 passangers no less then 150 pounds each. 450 extra pounds in the car and it still got and insanly awsome 0-60 time!!!!!!!!! When he let off the gas I thought mabye he felt thatwas enought...nope it was because we were already going about 90.I serously don't even think my head had even hit the back of the seat yet from the launch by the time he was already off the gas. Now that is fast.

Confucious say: "Just as WRX wagon holds firm to the highway at great speed, let posting hold true to desired topic of thread"
TRUE- ancient Chinese proverb!

I gotta wagon- I like my wagon very much. The only modification I have made is to add a cargo net which pretty much sums up my skills as a mechanic. I do however like to drive this car very much, and as an enthusiast this board is helpful and fun.

When I bought my car, salesman said: "If you want to modify your car, here's a place I recommend...." And as a new Subaru owner, I said "What else can you do to these cars? They already are fast and well-equipped?" Little did I know!!
Well, I've learned through this board and reading some of the import tuner mags, etc.
After the 1st, when my wallet gets fat again, I plan to gradually have some upgrades done- I personally think the Sport Wagon is a great platform for this- Having been in the autosound business once, I can imagine what could be done in the rear cargo area, for example.

Combining a custom interior (sound, seats, gauges, etc) with the number of suspension, braking, and performance upgrades I've seen for the WRX could turn the Wagon into my idea of a dream car. I personally would leave the exterior alone 'cept for maybe some of the aftermarket headlights I've seen, and maybe a custom paint job I have in mind, and of course any number of the great wheels & rims on the market. It's all a matter of personal taste.

When I do this, I'd be happy to show pix of the car.
My thread was intended for those who might have already done this to post if they wished. For those who posted referrals, etc-
Thanks, I'm checking 'em out.

IM not-so-HO; anything else off the thread-
Your vehicle is swerving!

You mean there are WRX's that *aren't* wagons?

Huh? They're called see-dans? Who the hell would want one of those?

If given the chance to do it all over again, i wouldve bought a white or silver wagon instead of the black sedan i own :D

I wish they made a factory body kit for the wagon like they have for the sedan. I really like the looks of the kit, not too flashy.

12-12-2001, 02:39 AM
they do have an oem kit for the wagon. just not for sale from subaru in us. vivid racing sells the oem body kit from the uk i believe. do a search on them and wagon and you should find it. i believe the kit consists of 1) front lip 2) sideskirts 3) rear lip 4) waist spoiler. you know what, in fact, i feel generous and actually giving some of the links mentioned earlier. here's the vivid racing thread:

http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89152&highlight=vivid+racing+waist+spoiler

here's the pics of the wagon from that thread:

Here's a dressup and style thread on the topic

Liberal kit on an prev gen impreza (from that thread ):

http://www.car-promenade.co.jp/liberal/img1/impreza2.jpg

i'm gonna try and look for the pics of the liberal kit on the new age wrx wagon. oh yeah, if you're wondering why i'm being so generous here, its cuz i can't sleep. will post more if i can find the other stuff i found earlier again.

:D :) :D

Nice Job! Thanx for the pics! Now we be rollin'!

I kinda like the dual spoilers, too.

I did check out " Project WRX "as well; very impressive!
There are some extremely creative and talented people out there-

It's very cool using the WRX Sport Wagon as a "canvas" for their abilities- (And a Van Gogh doesn't corner nearly as well!!)

travmn
12-12-2001, 03:04 AM
doh, i'm dumb... the new age liberal kit is right on vividracing.com. I hope he don't mind, but i'll link the images in. wish they were bigger / higher res though. anyways, here they are:

http://www.vividracing.com/images/Liberal/sidefrnt1big.jpg

http://www.vividracing.com/images/Liberal/rear1big.jpg

http://www.vividracing.com/images/Liberal/side2big.jpg

now if you just want a FAST wagon, just copy the stuff that any of the fast ppl on this board did. if you got an auto, follow riftswrx. i'd recommend keeping an eye out for what alfreidesq and nmyeti are doing ( and of course once shiv has his stage 1 out. can't wait to see what he does with that ).

oh, you probably could do some sedan body kits on the wagon w/ some mods. theres a thread in dress up and style where they've been doing some crazy / funny sedan pics. anyone in there might be able to conjure up a pic if you wanna see how something would look.

Wagons rock ! But part of the reason they rock is because of the sleeper factor. Trick the body too much and you lose that feature. Power and handling are the ways to go. Use that $500 that you save going with the wagon and you're half way to Shiv's stage 0 kit or you can go Whiteline(mofugas.com) and have a very nice handling ride with money left over for a couple of gauges or a new head unit for your listening pleasure (although I have found myself listening to the beautiful sounds of the turbo'd boxer more often than not).

I continue to be impressed with the talents of a lot of the WRX owners on the board-Wish I had those skills!
Personally, outside of bigger wheels/rims, the only outside mod
for me might be a one-of custom paint. I like the stealth look, too, besides there's a certain zen about something being completely stock (at least outside). Performance-wise, I can only imagine how much fun it must be to drive a speed and handling enhanced version of an already great performer. For therapy, I drive up/down some coastal canyon roads out here, leading to the ocean & back- Sun,Sky. Sea & WRX- Life is good!
Question-Does anyone see an unaltered first version of WRX becoming a "classic" in time, and retaining more value stock?
For instance, this is the case with musical instruments- i.e. a mint
unaltered Fender Strat or P-Bass; or Gibson guitar from the 60's
is worth a fortune today. I wonder if ten years down the road
the same might hold true for for this issue WRX?
Either way, I'm enjoying mine NOW!

Yo, Bullit! On weekends
I drive Kanan Dume to PCH around sunrise, I'm the only car usually! After checking out sunrise & thanking the Subaru Gods for my car;
Then PCH to Latigo Canyon UP! (Makes Mulholland Dr. look like a straitaway!!) Then Mulholland Highway to wherever, then
home & back to bed for awhile.

P.S. Sometimes, if I'm very lucky, I might get a Pauly Shore sighting! Wow!!;) :D

yeah, but I hope I don't see any of those cheez-whiz covered wagons.

imho body kits BLOW...they belong on Civics along with coffe can exhausts.

Why ruin an inherently cool/goofy car (WRX) with spastic plastic? I just don't get it...

SWEET! dont be surprised if you see a silver wagon around there in the next couple weeks.;)

Hey, I hope I do catch you & your wagon there!
There's plenty of canyon roads to be run (Stunt, Corral, etc)
& the more WRX's (subliminal message: wagons), the bettah! In fact- I think there should be a SCIC run up those hills scheduled- THAT would be a sight-
Besides, I owe you a beverage of your choice for your previous
sage comments re: a certain ter-key who objected to my choice of words expressing my wish to hear/see about modified wagons!
Har-Har!

Keep those pix comin'!
