Just join subaruforester.org, and you'll find people there who run 12's...definitely better and faster than anything that Subaru is capable of building themselves.
Of course, he could simply buy the Kartboy Forester, have the six speed trans, most of the work already done for him...and only spend ~25k.

^^^Have him buy this and add a FMIC + Big Turbo installed by you. ;)

well it all depends on what kind of "track" you're running at. For a road course here's what I use....although not a FXT,just a lowly 2001 S-premium, but here goes.
1. JIC FLT-A2 with spring rates of 7f/5r set on 2 clicks from full soft for daily and 4 clicks for track days.
2. Whiteline rear adjustable swaybar with HD mount and MRT endlinks. Bar set on 20mm setting.
3. 5-Zigen (lowcost) 17x7 +48 eta wrapped in 225/45/17 Falken Azenis RT-615 tires 32 psi all around.
4. Goodridge steel braided brake lines filled with pepboys dot 4 brake fluid.
5. Upgraded front rotors to WRX size with Project Mu B-force brakepads all around.
6. a well trained left foot.
7. 3 years hanging out with Francis and friends.
The last two you cannot purchase, I've just been lucky enough to acquire these rare items by fate. Those that know what I'm talking about can explain.
