well, it depends on where your place is located. Do any of your neighbors have Dish?? i know that some folks can get it up there, while others can't. same issue as Clearwire or Dish in town. i love my BBP. it's pretty sweet. I downloaded Spider Solitaire so when i'm standing in line somewhere, i just play that. :) I also can do Yahoo messenger on it. you can do MSN messenger, but only through the browser. it's a bit more cumbersome imo.

Locked phones have programming in them so you can only use that phone with a specific carrier. In this case, it's Cellular One.

Unlocked phones do not have this restriction or it has been removed (I don't know how to do this) and may be used on any GSM wireless carrier. GSM uses SIM cards (look like memory cards) with all your phone info. You slide your SIM card into an unlocked phone and voila! New phone! :)

The downside with an unlocked phone is that the phone carrier will not give you technical support nor will they probablly know how. It's like someone buying a used Cadillac from Conti and expecting them to know everything about it and warrantying it.
