i just installed the v limited lip for 06 wrx and now the front is too low to go up my ramps.

i need my car raised for oil changes. i have a hydraulic car jack. is there something i can buy to keep the car steady in case the jack fails? i think i saw some kind of stand that goes on the frame but i am not sure what it is called.

any suggestions?

thanks!

Umm Jack Stands? You could get some race ramps. I just cracked my lip on my regular ramps.

Get a good jack and don't worry so much about the jack failing....

Jackstands are cheap insurance though, you just gotta make sure they are in a secure place under the car and NOT on thin floorpan metal or they WILL bend metal...

exactly! don't make it more complicated then it needs to be... put lengths of 2x10's under front part of ramp, drive up on 2x10, drive up on ramp. pretty simple.

I ran into the same problem with my ramps when I lowered my car. To get more clearance, first I roll the car onto some .5" particle board, and then drive the car onto the ramps. It gives me the extra clearance that I need, and it's a heck of a lot quicker than jacking the car up. Works like a charm. May not work for you if you need several inches worth of extra clearance...

Chewy, your so crazzy.....

By the time you had your ramps lined up and were starting to inch your way up them, i'd have my car up on the jack and the plug out and filter draining. (i always "pop" a hole in my filters and let them drain to, less messy)

I lost a good friend to a car falling (slipping) off a floor jack. the car landed on his chest and held him to the floor until he could not breath anymore. they figured that he was under the car for about 3 hrs before he died. whats sad is that he was a Pro and had jackstands and a lift, his wife said he was only going to check the u-joints. So always use jack stands! and never work under a car alone. ( rules to live by)

I just installed the replica V-limited lip too.

I have ramps, ramp extenders, and then I use two 2"x6" planks about 4' long and the lip does not hit.

If I did not use the ramp extenders, then the lip would hit the ramp and ride along it when driving the car up/down.

yeah i heard of people dying from getting crushed from failing jacks or jacks slipping....i dont feel safe under my car with out the ramp.. i use to change my oil with only a car jack lifting my car up.. i would always feel uneasy under my car.... :(

Just use the front jacking plate to jack the car up. When it's high enough, put the ramps under the front tires and lower the car so you can remove the jack. When you're done changing the oil just jack it back up and take the ramps out. This way you don't even need to buy jackstands or worry about busting your front lip.

...making some angled blocks outa 2x10's(ya can stack 2, screw them together, and cut the ends at angles) is super easy and super cheap and usually makes the car high enough to get under for many usefull tasks
