Testing for interest in my above mentioned S4 w/ 6 speed manual transmission. Looks and runs awesome, lowered on H&R springs, Bilstein shocks and chipped w/ GIAC software, about 320hp and 380lb/ft. For you non-S4 saavy folks, it's equal to or slightly better than a factory STI in speed, braking and cornering. All S4's are quattro so....

Car has about 145,000 miles but has been completely inspected and has tons of maintenance receipts and receipts for all the mods. Title is clean and the car has never been in an accident. Turbo's on these are known to go out and these were recently inspected and found to have no shaft play. A 1 year (well, 360 days left) warranty will be included so if the turbos or anything else go out they will get replaced without expense to you, also covers all other mechanical parts.
That's the quick and dirty, if you're serious and have cash I'll send you all the details and pics you want.

Yeah, how about not. Better speed, yes. Better braking and cornering, definitely not.
My buddy has a chipped (GIAC) '00 with Bilsteins and H&R springs, CF hood, Rs4 clutch and flywheel, and catback. His car is awesome, and Im definitely an S4 fan, but outhandle and out brake a STi? No. :D
FWD biased Quattro < DCCD
Audi OEM < Brembo
3600 lbs < 3350 lbs
Again, S4s are amazing cars and I definitely may own one some day, but it definitely wouldnt be with the idea of beating an STi.
Good luck with the sale.
John Drivesabox 04-04-2007, 08:22 PM Decide for yourself, or just compare the two from behind the wheel. Brembo or not, +or- 250lbs difference is negligible once the mods start flying on. http://www.buzzhumor.com/videos/1110/Top_Gear_S4_vs._EVO8_vs._STi
I will agree that the Subaru AWD is the best out there, especially w/ DCCD.
Kendon 04-05-2007, 05:46 PM evo FTW if you dont care about luxury :)
John Drivesabox 04-08-2007, 11:35 AM True dat bump. There has already been much done to this car to cover common items such as; timing belt, hard Y-pipe and forged diverter valves all with receipts.
tommy2hotty 04-08-2007, 04:25 PM 3600 lbs < 3350 lbs
since when is 3600 less than 3350:confused:
John Drivesabox 04-08-2007, 04:52 PM I think he meant it's not as good to have a heavier car.
John Drivesabox 05-05-2007, 05:45 PM Bump/ Still up, want to get back into a Subaru.
GTBGUY 05-05-2007, 07:55 PM John Drivesabox - check your Pm's :)

NotoriousD 05-07-2007, 02:45 AM any cluster shots?
Big_DeWeY 05-07-2007, 12:53 PM x2 on cluster shots w/ key on.
John Drivesabox 05-10-2007, 11:17 PM Sorry, I'll have to get pics later. To satiate for now, there are 5 or 6 lines out on the display, I've been trying to find a new or newer cluster but they're pretty hard to come by and it really doesn't bother me at all anymore, but I'm remaining active in the search for now.
winston0064 05-11-2007, 02:58 AM thats actually a good price guys.
Not here to start conflict, but I am not sure how you find this to be a good price.
OP: You state it has 145,000 miles on it. Are you the first and only owner? Is this 145,000 on the original turbos? When was it chipped? Have the control arms been replaced? From which company is the 1 year warranty available? Warranty and chipped? Love to hear the company covering this. 145,000 on the original gearing? Chipped S4's are a dime a dozen, especially a black on black without the sport package, thus I may suggest lowering the price. Possibly, maybe, a desperate buyer might purchase this for close to $14k if it were unmodified. Seeing that you can by a full fledge Stage 3 S4 for close to $18K 45,000 miles less than this.
In no way am I trying to disparage your attempt to sell the S4 in order to get back into a Subaru, but there are many hidden gremlins in these cars that an unsuspecting buyer will be burdened with.
Best of luck...
John Drivesabox 05-11-2007, 03:25 PM 2nd owner, I've only had it since March. I have the original owners info.
I know about many of the gremlins and I think I've covered most of them before now. I don't have a control arm receipt with the paperwork but the outer CV boots are new and if the control arms needed replacing they would have done it then. This is an Audi specialty shop maintained car and it's been great so far. No odd noises or anything.
Auto Assets did the software upgrade and gave me the warranty which is through Penn Warranty Corp. It would have been illegal for them to sell me a car/warranty that is invalid due to work that they themselves did.
Price is negotiable, optimally I'd like to trade it for a swapped RS or even an older Legacy Turbo + cash. I'll be more than willing if the trade is worth more to me than a cash buyer.
John Drivesabox 05-17-2007, 07:35 PM bump!!!!
Dingo 05-18-2007, 02:52 AM Love those cars, my friend as the latest model with the v8 and supercharged that bad boy. That car is incredible, but this one is a beauty as well. Good luck with the sale and a free bump. If you are negotiable on the price hit me up with a PM.

What a rude post.
The 2001 year fixed the "heated oil line" that cooked most of the turbo's causing the failures in these cars. This car also has upgraded diverter valves, and a hard y-pipe... good as gold!
And from past experience... all Audi's have their "gremlins"... as do most cars (ask anyone who's owned an 02 WRX and had the nasty raw fuel smell in the winter).
I don't know about where you're from, but here in Michigan, you can't find a NICE, clean S4 for the price you're asking.
I say good luck with your sale, and don't let NASIOC nay-sayers get to you. Your S4 looks AMAZING.
John Drivesabox 05-29-2007, 08:02 PM Negotiable on price, taking all offers.
Big_DeWeY 05-29-2007, 09:28 PM i can't believe this is still here. If I were still in the market man it would be bought.
Big_DeWeY 05-29-2007, 09:31 PM im gonna cross post this on www.xceedspeed.com for you!

I highly doubt it's supercharged. If it is then it's the $40k MTM kit and one of only a handful in the US. Seems like a good friend to know.
Sorry to hijack. Great car. Great price at $12.2k. I want an S6 avant instead.

John Drivesabox 01-22-2008, 02:33 AM Replaced all wheels and tires this week due to the bends. New setup as well as a few spares and some brand new 18" tires will be going in the trunk with whoever takes it.
John Drivesabox 01-27-2008, 06:50 PM New pics up soon.
John Drivesabox 01-31-2008, 04:15 PM bump, new pics up, new lower price.
duritsa 02-01-2008, 02:10 AM For 11k someone should grab this up. A B5 S4 just won the SCC challenge, and there are some ridiculous ones in the last issue of EuroTuner. Still one of the best platforms ever.
boarderguy 02-01-2008, 02:27 AM i love this car. also not that easy to come by i looked high and low for months for one before buying my subi. awesome deal wish i would have found you a year ago:) good luck if it was a wagon....... i would figure out a way today
