I was just curious what you can do to fix a rich condition? as soon as i hit boost it goes rich. I have a 02 wrx with upgraded I/C, VF39 turbo, sti injectors, and a few more random things. any help would be greatly appreciated.

How rich? It is supposed to go rich when in boost. If it is overly rich then you need a better tune.

Do you have a datalog? How rich is it getting?

Do a datalog, then you have to look at it and see what map load point your at when the fuel map goes wrong, what rpms, and what boost level. Then make small adjustments to your fuel map until your a/f ratio hits your target.

If you havnt done this before my advice is to use 4th gear if you can, take small steps.. datalog everything dont just go blindly. Make sure your changing the right area in the fuel map, and know what a safe a/f target is for your engine. Once you achieve the right a/f ratio you might encounter knock you should know what to do if that happens.. really you should have a professional do this on a dyno. But you can teach yourself, there are a few tuning guides floating around nasioc i would read all of them. twice, before doing this. If you get in over your head and mess up your fuel map even more, you should stop what your doing and drive it at part throttle until you can make an app't with a tuner.

Copy your current map to a new slot, and modify the new one so you can always go back to the beginning if you need to or just switch back to your old map.

You have a turboxs tuner pro?

no, i don't have a turboxs tuner pro. how exactly do i datalog stuff on my UTEC?

its easy, first off the instructions are in the manual and if you dont have a paper copy turboxs has it on their website. anyway, all you have to do is connect to the UTEC via hyperterminal on your laptop and get to the main menu and hit the 1 key. that would start Logger #1, you use the space bar to stop and start it. Its a good idea to disable screen savers when logging because sometimes they can interupt it.

there are like eight or nine different loggers the UTEC has, but i normally use #1 for daily logging. you just hit keys 1-9 to bring them up.

without the wideband your datalog will always show "rich" after 12.5:1 or whatever the ratio is because your cars front 02 sensor that the logger is using is not accurate under boost most of the time.

Thats what i originally thought you were refering too in this post, the fact that your logger is saying "rich".

I would suggest visiting a tuner or shop with a dyno if there is one in your area if you actually need to have some work done..

i wouldn't even attempt to tune a map without a wideband 02, nor would i rely on the oem 02. until you get one (either the txs tuner or tuner pro) either wait or take it in to get pro-tuned.
