The car feels smoother but I'm not sure if it's faster
Occasionly the boost will fluctuate around while in vacum. And a few times at wot, boost will go up then fall back down, and build back up.

Could be a number of things, mechanical and/or tune. Where did you get your tune? If the "Columbus" in your profile is Ohio, and you had it done at Mead, that may be the problem. I had Mead do a protune on my modified Stage 2 02 WRX, and had to remove it within a week because of very high fuel consumption and CEL's for misfires. Car ran really strong on the tune, but the problems were unacceptable. I have since concluded they know a little about tuning, but not enough to understand all the nuances of the various tuning tables and their effect on ecu operation, and they are too proud to admit their limitations. They wouldn't answer my emails about the problems with the tune (I live in Tennessee), so if you're in the same boat . . . Good Luck!

A tune from PDX by email took care of all my problems and the car runs acceptably strong as my daily driver.

I will keep the tuner un named until I have a chance to discuss it with him, and see if there is a resolve on it. He said to email/call him if it didn't feel right. Said it would be alot smoother (and it is) and may not feel like more power because of the smoothness (possibiltiy).
I still haven't contacted the tuner yet, I wanted to get some advice from other who have gotten tunes and drive it for awhile. Before I make a decision on the tune. Sometimes it feels faster (not as much as I expected), then sometimes the power band is just flat.
My fuel consuption has been going up, no cels'. I accredited the fuel consumption as the ecu addapting. But then again, I'm no tuner...

There is also a dyno/met I'll be attending in 2wks so we will see how it goes.

Also suggest you read the current thread on the "Factory 2.0L Turbo Powertrain" about fuel mileage after a tune:

You can't have boost and vacuum at the same time. Which is it? Are you trying to say it surges into boost and then back into vacuum?

argh my bad, it was late and I was wasted, lol.

I meant to say the boost will peak, then fall down to like 12ish then jump back up to peak.
AND
When idiling the vacum pressure will fluctute. It used to stay constant and still does for the most part, but occasionly I've noticed it jittering around.

Could both symptoms point to a vacumm leak somewhere instead of the tune??

update:
Well today after some spirited driving I come to a red light pulled off normal and civil and heard a bad sound. I've blown a gasket from either the dp or up.
I'm thinking the up-pipe may have been leaking ever so slightly, then today I more than likely blew the gasket clean off, lol.

And I spoke tot he tuner he is going to look it over and check the tune friday. So all seems good.

Still wondering up-pipe leak cause boost irregularities above??
