If you crossthread something going in and then completely thread it in crossthreaded can it be taken out? I know its a bad idea and you should always back up if you think something is in there crossthreaded but if it is and you take it out will it go back in crossthreaded or is it just screwed?

If you got it in you should be able to get it out, a 90% maybe. You distorted threads and it will be hard to get the bolt in correctly. So it might go in cross threaded or in normal. But anyways it's going to be a bear. You need to take the bolt out and run a tap through the threads. I would also use a new bolt.

Yeah a tap and new bolt are alot better than the hassle of dealing with a crossthreaded nut or bolt, but theoretically a crosstreaded bolt or nut is rethreading against the grain so to speak, and usually once crossthreaded they will continue to go back this way.

^thats kinda what I was thinking....but the problem is its just not any regular bolt otherwise I wouldn't have bothered making a post. Its the bolt for the power steering hardline. Its on there real good now and I'd like not to touch it but I may need to mess with my inlet a little more which would involve me messing with it....maybe.

If you crossthreaded the hollow bolt for the PS, it's possible some metal bits may have found their way into the lines and pump. Obviously that isn't good. There's also a chance it will leak eventually.
This should really be fixed ASAP. If the car hasn't been run yet all the better, as any shavings won't have circulated into the system yet.
