Hi Folks,

Is replacing the high pressure hose on the AC a simple job or is it time consuming? I haven't done it before and have a quote from a shop, but was wondering if I could do it myself. I have changed my own fuel filter and fluids to give you a reference point.

Thanks

Malik

Replacing the hose isn't a hard thing to do, however before doing so the system must first be discharged safely and legally (if it isn't already empty due to a leak), and afterward it has to be evacuated and recharged. So you can swap the hose yourself, but you'll need a shop to do the rest.

Thanks.

I also found your previous response on a similar topic - my initial search was poorly worded I guess. Will look up more information there.

Thanks again.

Once you open the system up, there is a possibility that you could need a new receiver/drier. A person who can read the gauges and knows what he/she's doing can tell after the hose is put on. Some ac people will put on a new receiver/drier any time the system is opened up. You cant just put the hose on and simply add the r-134a yourself. The system wont cool worth a crap unless you vac the air and moister outta the system.
