View Full Version : Richard Burn Rally - Cote De Arbroz (2:34:09)
SWortham 04-07-2007, 07:14 PM My brother, my roommate and I have all had a friendly competition amongst ourselves for the past couple weeks to get the fastest time on this tarmac stage of Richard Burns Rally. We've gone back & forth for awhile but for now I'm holding the top time by about 1 1/2 seconds. :)
Here's my best run on this stage so far...

Bonzo 04-07-2007, 07:23 PM hmmm, maybe I fire RBR tonight to see what I can do. I'm overdue for some RBR action anyways.
mykrrrr 04-07-2007, 07:40 PM I hate that tarmac rally in RBR.
Let's do a fastest mineshaft stage in Rally Canberra in Australia challenge. :)
Carisma 04-07-2007, 07:56 PM God...so many games I want but I need to build my new computer. :(
i stopeed after you hit teh guard rail 20 sec in
i stopeed after you hit teh guard rail 20 sec in
It was very clean and fast from there on. I'll have to try that someday.
Oh, and IBloebwinsit
SWortham 04-07-2007, 08:50 PM Yeah, it was sketchy at the beginning. I've had much cleaner runs obviously but none have been that fast. Like I said though, I think it's feasible to find another second in this stage but not much beyond that.

Probably a couple, but it wouldn't be easy you were very fast towards the end where the course was more high speed
SWortham 04-07-2007, 09:51 PM Ah, here we go I was looking for these top times (http://www.thexav.freesurf.fr/RbRMultiplayer/modules.php?name=Records&file=classementComplet&competition=records_origine&numSpeciale=41).
2:30:15 just seems unbelievably fast and I don't know if they were using the same Subaru or a mod car, or if they tuned it. Mine was with the default tuning and the default Subie.
StuBeck 04-07-2007, 10:15 PM Stop hitting the guard rails! There are probably at least 5 seconds in the lap if you stop hitting the guard rails and take the hairpins better.
SWortham 04-07-2007, 11:02 PM You'd be surprised. I can definitely take the hairpins better but I didn't lose as much time as it looked like. Even when you take very tight and clean lines through the hairpins the fastest I've seen is not even a second faster in the first sector. I think my brother is holding the record for the fastest first sector time of 1:03:98 compared to my 1:04:37 on that particular run. 1:03's are about the best you could hope for I think... unless somebody proves me wrong that is. ;)
Of course the hard part is stringing it all together. I had cleaner runs I could've uploaded that may have looked faster but were not.
Bonzo 04-08-2007, 12:43 AM hitting gaurd rail is verboten juts like in real life.
After not driving this in at least 6 months I carded a 2:48 after a few re-tries.
1:07 on 1st sector iirc. I'm very sloppy...yadda..
Aussie east-west is another fun one.
fun tho.
burned 04-08-2007, 05:00 AM you are slow take the cornesr more smothley and use the long geabox change gears before the rev limiter light you will go faster and get about 1 sec out of that alone.
I make these times whit a S1600 punto whit a wrc the times are around 2.29-2.31 Wr lies around 2.27 :D i dont know how its is possible but it is :D
SWortham 04-08-2007, 12:11 PM Can you upload your replay (rpl) file?
SWortham 04-08-2007, 09:01 PM Hey burned, I don't want to say that I don't believe you, but well... I don't. I just looked and that time would be feasible for the Cote D'Arbroz 2 stage, however.
By the way I just found this clip...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eOVgCvJlgQ
It's as close to perfect as I've seen. It's really hard to pick out places where they could've been faster. And it was all for a time of 2:33:04... about a second faster than me.
burned 04-09-2007, 03:42 AM As i said to you in PM give me an email and i will send you a rpl whit an impreza at stinking 2.30.74! The car is an impreza 2005 whic is alowed to be used in our championship. And i suck at WRC cars i drive better my punto s1600.
P.S. On the video too short gear ratio shanging gears too high breaking to fast sliding too much.
Edit :
Ill make a video and put it on youtube today.
Edit: i cant make a video so i amde a screenshot whit fraps ! Here you go

SWortham 04-09-2007, 02:35 PM I replied to your PM.
By the way, is this the same Subaru that comes with the game? I noticed some people are using different variants and such. I haven't loaded any extra cars though and I really haven't unlocked much yet. I'm using the Subaru that's unlocked when you first load the game and with the default tuning.
burned 04-09-2007, 02:56 PM you got your replay on your mail :)
I use another model the 2005 it looks nicer . But as i said i drive the s1600 class
You get a lot of new cars at Black hole motorsports go search there :)
SWortham 07-11-2007, 02:20 PM Burned, I never did get that replay to work. RBR would crash whenever I tried to load it (even when I had the updated model installed).
But I beat my own record with a 2:33:00...
http://www.dailymotion.com/SWortham/video/x2fa8m_rbrcote23300_auto
SWortham 08-08-2007, 02:52 PM My roommate beat my 2:33:00 record with a 2:32:38, so I had to see where he was faster and learn from it. He was putting together awesome 1st and 2nd sectors. Fortunately, I was still faster in the 3rd sector so once I matched his 1st and 2nd sector pace I knew I could beat his time.
It took me several hours but I did it with a 2:31:88. All of this is still with the default tuning. It never ceases to amaze me how you can always be a little faster.
As an aside, all of this RBR action has obviously improved my car control in real life. I figured the game would help sharpen my reaction times and improve my instincts. But just the other day when driving my car I was able to actually anticipate a slide and counter-steer before it even happened. It was a thing of beauty because I felt no abrupt weight transfer, and it seemed to be timed perfectly. I've anticipated a slide and counter-steered before but never have I executed it that perfectly. So, thank you Richard Burns Rally. I believe this game along with GTR2 and rFactor are great tools for anyone involved in autocrossing, rally, or road racing.
StuBeck 08-08-2007, 03:03 PM So we were right about you being able to get a faster time out of the car ;)
SWortham 08-08-2007, 03:15 PM Yep, I still don't know about 5 seconds without tuning. ;) But you were right, there was certainly more room for improvement than I expected. I'll try to upload the replay later. I do hit a guardrail in this run but it's a graceful impact (lol) that slingshots the car around the corner in the last sector. I am a lot faster and smoother through the first sector though... you'll be proud.
Ralliart4 08-09-2007, 11:11 AM I hate that tarmac rally in RBR.
Let's do a fastest mineshaft stage in Rally Canberra in Australia challenge. :)
You guys need to look for the jump for that stage on youtube lol ...
BigB007 08-09-2007, 04:46 PM Seems like a cool game I will have to check it out.
mykrrrr 08-09-2007, 10:01 PM You guys need to look for the jump for that stage on youtube lol ...
