Hey guys,
So I got my new v2 AP today and it is really nice. The install was as easy as could be and I didn't have any problems. Anyways, I went for a drive afterwards to see how things were running and noticed two things. First, boost peaks (in 3rd and 4th) at around 16.9 -17.4 psi but quickly comes back down to the target of 16 psi. Is this just the ECU learning (is wastegate duty cycle one of the "learned" parameters), the reaction time of the wastegate, or boost spike? Is it something to worry about I guess would be a simplier question. Now the dynamic advance (I think that's what the DA stands for, I forget, whatever you know what I'm talking about) never goes negative while at WOT so I don't think its knocking, but I just wanted to see what everyone else had experienced. Second, when rolling through a parking lot at say 15 mph in 2nd with no throttle, DA is at 0.00. However, if you give it very (and I mean very) light throttle in this instance DA will go to -1.50 for a little and then come back to 0.00. Is this reason for alarm or normal behavior? As far as mods go, the only other thing on my car besides the AP is the SPT intake and heatshield (please don't ream me for my intake). Perrin TBE and stage 2 Protune in a month or so!!!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Boost Targets: ~16.5psi +/- 0.5psi peak boost pressure tapering down
to ~12psi, depending on vehicle and conditions. If your vehicle is
not achieving or exceeding the boost targets, you may need to
mechanically adjust your boost control system, please refer to this
document "How Subaru’s Factory Boost Control System Works v1.X" for
instructions.

You are definitely over-boosting and sounds like you are getting some boost spike as well. I would flash the Stage 1 LWG map as a realtime map, then drive it for a short while and see what you get. It takes a little while for the ECU to fully learn but you should see the boost levels adjust. If that doesn't change it, then you haven't hurt anything by flashing it as Realtime.

Thanks for the advice. I checked it again today (before changing anything) and the ecu seems to be learning to control the boost (nothing over 16.8) so I guess I'll just keep a close eye on it over the next week or so.

hi,

on my stage 1 AP im hitting 1.3 bar ( about 18.1 psi ) peak. Running K&N intake and blitz cat back. Then it comes down to about 15 psi as the rpm band goes up. but the car feels fine and i don seems to have any issues. i like it so i dont see any reason to load the LWG map. the AF is still running well in the rich range. below is the boost dyno sheet. i only seem to hit 1.3 bar when i flor it in 3-4 gear. most other times i hit about 1.2 bar 16 psi ish. so i think this is ok.

Hmm 16 psi huh.... I have the OEM Lamco gauge and haven't seen it go past .1 mpa which should be about 14.5 psi...I need to hook up the AP and check out live data..might need to adjust my wastegate arm.. oh well just means i"m going to go faster than I already am happy with :)
EDIT******
Ok just kidding STI only :)

2006 WRX is:

13.5PSI or so which is about .08mpa which I do hit :)
