Without a doubt, this was a major disappointment.

I had read that it was in fact not real carbon fiber but in fact plastic...absolutely true. However, I was OK with that IF it looked like a reasonable facsimile of CF unless you looked real close.

WRONG...it looks like a half hearted attempt at painting CF onto plastic, about as cheesy looking as bad vinyl veneer on a cheap dinette table.

I am extremely disappointed in this one. You would think that "OE" quality parts, that someone would pay almost $200 for, would be at least a "feel good" upgrade! :furious: The painted silver on the dash and air vents looks like an upgrade compared to this.

Fortunately I am in good with my local Subie parts guy and he agreed to take it back (without the menacing looking, "no returns on special orders" and "25% restocking fee on all returns").

AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COSTS!!!

I like the kit. It would be nice if it was real carbon fiber but I still like it better than the stick on kits that are available.

Many years back when I first started shopping for a WRX I asked a dealer about the carbon fiber kit after seeing it in the Subaru catalong, and the dealer said that it was a set of overpriced stickers and that none of his customers were happy with them. He said he doesn't carry them, won't let his shop install them (so that they aren't on the hook to remove/realign them) and warns everyone who insists on doing a special order.

The Subaru dash pieces aren't stickers though. They are replacement dash parts.
