View Full Version : Temp corrections

I am trying to fix a slight midrange knock I have when it gets real hot in the staging lanes on pump gas. With the temp correction, for timing, do those numbers represent degrees? Or a percent? PDX recommends 2 degrees pulled for hot temps, so that means in those 60 degrees plus values I would enter -2 instead of 0? Thanks for the help.

Edit: I just noticed my TPS never reads above 99% is that a problem? If it is is there a fix?

I think those are a percent. A screenshot in Mick's guide shows a (%) on that line. You may want to do an estimate of what percentage would take a couple degrees of timing out. 5%? 10%?

If your TPS never reaches 100%+ you'll never hit your 100% load column.

To calibrate your TPS...

Turn on car (don't start it)
Go into logger 4
Record TPS (T0)
Depress throttle fully (T1)
Min TPS = T0 / 51
Max TPS = T1 / 51

Seeing just over 100% TPS is fine.

Load has no relation to TPS, it is based off boost pressure.

exactly, the only time not hitting 100% TPS would keep you out of the 100% load column is in the boost map.

So is it necessary for me to calibrate the TPS sensor or not?

And one more question...is there an upgrade for a higher reading MAP sensor? Can you get by with speed density without it?

I had asked the same question ..I did an experiment on Ignition timing compensation.

For FW 5.8b,
The compensation value is not % but absolute timing value .

+VE => Add timing
-VE=> retard timing

If you stay below ~24psi you can use the stock MAP. If you want to boost higher you should get an aftermarket MAP.

Well that is good news, I will start working on this next week I think. Too bad its not possible to assign different parameters to different maps, this way it could be a work in progress until everything gets sorted out.
