View Full Version : Just installed side skirt
malelee21 12-12-2001, 09:48 PM After considering full underbody spoiler, I've decided to go with side skirts only. I just didn't like front underbody spoiler. Wow, what a difference it makes! Blue with black side skirts didn't really go together and just couldn't wait to get rid of them. Now, with same color side skirt, car looks lowered and looks sweet! If you got time, check out at photos.yahoo.com/malelee21
what about the OEM rear skirt and the UK300/Prodrive front lip! Haven't seen anyone doing that yet. I think it would look pretty sweet :)

I know what you mean. With the body colored side skirts it really does make the WRX look like it's lowered. It just completes the look well. I have the OEM silver side skirts on my wagon. Reasonable price and easy install plus I don't have the niggling worry in the back of my head whether the paint might chip off if I had the black ones painted.

I've been thinking of that myself. Anyone with UK300 front lip, lights, and OEM black side skirt on a Silver WRX? Pics?
hYYpeRX 12-13-2001, 03:37 PM When I purchased my WRX I bought it basically base.
Figured I wanted to make it the way I wanted it, that ment not going with the OE spoiler.
I did recently buy the short shift kit and the side skirts. My car is white so, replacing the black with color matched sides made a huge improvement. My car is lowered and with the black, it just didn't look like it.... but now... :D It looks like a really fat PANDA w/ the black HL housing.
Still don't want the add on lips.. just don't like the added line they create... if anything, I may just go with a full replacement or leave it as is.
Did you remove the black rubber piece near the rear door???
I saw one car had it still but it was also color matched... is this a part someone sells or did they just paint it themselves?
If not, can I just take it off? Hurt anything? Purpose just to protect from rocks flying from the front tires???

AFAIK the little black pieces ahead of the rear wheel need to be painted if you want the body color look. I don't know of any replacement pieces as of yet. I remember reading a thread not too long ago detailing how an i-club member painted his.

ellisnc 12-13-2001, 09:54 PM those things irritate me too, I may take my car to a good body shop and get an estimate to have them shaved
hYYpeRX 12-14-2001, 01:13 PM Are those pieces mounted on with clips or do they sort of just hug onto the car with fender lip or do they use adhesive???
I know the CUSCO car has this piece removed... just wondering what I will find under it...
Anyone know?
OH yeah... what would you actually call this piece??? Could not figure out what to do a search on for this...
gtguy 12-14-2001, 02:41 PM Are you guys using the ones from SubaruParts.com, that is the pre-painted, OE ones? The price IS right on those skirts.

ellisnc 12-14-2001, 11:28 PM there are holes in the body panel under them, don't pull them off unless you're planning on breaking them and filling in the holes and having that area repainted.
I wish they were just stick on, they would have been off the first day I had the car
hYYpeRX 12-14-2001, 11:39 PM thanks for the info... just didn't want to leave those holes...
I ordered mine through the dealer I bought my car from and he hooked me up with his employee discount.. so... 20% off shop cost... cool guy!!!
But. I did order my center dash pod from subaruParts.com... I agree... good prices and prompt delivery...
I'll be putting in the Blitz SBC i-D and the Power i-D in there... should look nice with the silver color match... I'll post pics as soon as that is in... Also, I have the A pillar pod coming from guagepods.com which will be holding 600 mm Blitz i-D boost, temp, and pressure... I just sit here and stare at them...
ho hum... where is my a pillar... ho hum... where are my Advans... ho hum... I need more money...
GoodFinder 12-15-2001, 01:07 PM My Zero Sports side skirts needed to keep the little black pieces ahead of the rear wheel well in place, otherwise it would not "fit" snug up quite as nicely. So I had them painted blue to match. GoodFinder :)
Bradus 12-15-2001, 01:14 PM The side skirts DO look nice. But never mind that, what about your wheels?!? Very nice indeed.
