Heres my deal...
Im building a 2.5 block with new internals, bigger cams in 2.0 heads, new drivetrain (6 speed, rear end, everything except sti knuckles). I have an accessport and was wondering what i should do after i drop the motor in. should i start it and run it before i get a base map? should i get a generic base map for the injectors and intake and whatnot, run on that to break in the motor and then go get a tune? should i drop the motor and just head down and get it tuned? im not very good with the tuning process so any help would be VERY helpful.

Thanks
Jon

you have to have the correct sizing for the injectors right from the get go, otherwise you run the risk of washing the walls and ruining your new engine. if it has an intake i would suggest dialing that in also before driving the car.

many get the basics dialed in first, injectors, intake, basic conservative AFR's and timing, then break the engine in with WG boost. a tuner can do this without ever putting the car on a dyno. after the engine is proeprly broken in, then run it on the dyno for a full boost custom tune.

so i need to let my tuner know my injector size and intake and thats about it? ive heard that Cobb can do this as i have their AP. i need to buy the street tuner software to tune this thought, correct?

i don't think cobb will give you a custom base map for your setup, you will need to get that from your tuner. you do'nt need street tuner, unless you want to tune it yourself. contact you tuner, they can email you a base map to get the car to the shop, then they will dial in the basics so that you can break your engine in, after that go back to them and have they dyno tune it.
