I have a 2005 sti and I was using the black ap. I changed base maps from the 93 stage 2 to the 91 stage 2 and after I disconnected everything and started the car the revs between 1-2k rpms with the check engine light on. I disconnected the test mode connectors after as well. I tried to revert it back to stock and it did the same thing. So I figured I could try and put the 93 stage 2 back as the base map and it is still doing it. Spoke with 2 people at cobb they told me to take it to an authorized tuner. Spoke with a local tuner and he said he heard of the problem on a 2006 sti. I would have to have it towed there to get him to work on the problem. He said he heard of a patch that fixes the problem. Anyone hear of this on a 2005 or have any suggestions? I have until Monday before the tuner can look at it if I have it towed there. The stage 2 map was the original on the ap when I bought it. Verison 1.3 I think. I have downloaded the new map v1.11 and may try to revert back to stock then set the base map with the 1.11 and see if it is still doing it.

did you try a hard reset? (disconnect the neg battery terminal)

Not a normal issue. If you email tech (at) cobbtuning.com or call in and ask for the reprogramming utility for the 2005 STI, we can send you a link to try. That will re-initialize the memory in the AP, in case its somehow corrupted. You'll need to be able to successfully connect your AP to a PC in order to run this utility. It's like a scandisk program, where it checks all the memory, so it'll take about a hour to perform but once done it will at least verify the AP is or isn't the issue.

Thanks,
