I've got the Turbo, Black gauge from Greddy:

It started getting "sticky," at start up, but then would "clear" itself.

lately it's gotten "stuck," at the minimum negative boost position.

I was having my burnt out Hella Horn Relay replaced at a garage, and asked the mechanic what was wrong with my gauge. He seemed to be in a hurry and didn't really diagnose what was wrong. He just said that the Sensor probably had to be replaced. This is the sensor where the pressure tube goes out to a T in a turbo hose line and the wiring goes back to the gauge itself.

The sensor was installed under that plastic cover just to the rear of the air box, just in front of the right hand strut tower.

Any other suggestions as to what might be the problem and how to fix it?

thanks ...

It doesnt sound like you have the sensor mounted in the correct place. How long have you had the gauge installed?

Here is the sensor ... left of middle in the photos, with the electrical connector at the top and the pressure tube at the bottom:

Here is the "Y" connector (white-ish thingy in the middle, behind the brace tube) spliced into a turbo boost pressure line:

I've had it installed for about three years. It's been stuck the last few times I've driven my WRX. But this morning, going to work, it started working after a few miles. On the way home, it was stuck again and didn't free itself. I wiggled connectors, knocked on the side of the housing ...

In that place did your gauge bounce around alot? The gauge is probably toasted after three years of being connected there.

The propper place to connect the "T"

Thanks ... and the sensor itself, should go where?

When it works, it's solid, no bounce.

pull the hose from the sender and simulate vac and boost. pull the gauge and simulate the output signal from the sender, see which one resolves the problem. if neither, the gauge needs work.
