Hey guys this may probably seem like an elementary question but as the title states, will a turbo timer equipped car still run with the key out of the ignition and after the kill switch has been engaged? I'm guessing it does since the kill switch cuts off your battery power and not your alternator current but I'm not too sure.

what are you using the kill switch for?

if you have it for track reasons, then disable the tt while it is possible for the kill switch to be tripped.

You can't run the car on the alternator. While it may in fact continue to run if the battery is disconnected, it is not safe to do so as the battery is necessary to stabilize the alternator output. Without it the voltage will be way too high and there will be spikes on the power.
So if you have a kill switch that disconnects the battery you cannot engage it while the engine is running.
Not sure why you'd have a battery kill for routine use anyway, these are usually only used for long-term storage. Security-related kill switches are normally wired to the fuel pump, and if you have one of those it will kill the engine regardless of whether it's running with the key or the turbo timer.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys. I was looking at the Ignited kill switch (for security purposes) and they say that it "cuts the power between the battery and critical car circuitry".

security purposes? so you live in new jersey and you flick the switch so people cant steal/drive your car. but its ok theyll just take your wheels.
