View Full Version : 06 STI HVAC into 06 2.5i ?
jezzy 04-26-2007, 06:52 PM Hi all,
I've searched, and read.. but not many details if it's possible to install the 06-07 STI HVAC into a 2.5i (manual climate control?)
Bezel, controls, and anything else ?? I heard the harness to the controls is plug and play, but the auto mode is disabled.
Just wondering.. a little mod I'd love to do myself.. always need a project !
Ceej92584 10-10-2007, 01:33 AM BUMP wondering the same myself
jezzy 10-11-2007, 05:51 PM Yeh, I haven't had any updates on this either.
I heard you've basically got to remove and replace all the blower system, basically removing the dash and installing all the HVAC system from an STI.
Wish someone can make a list of the necessary parts for the swap. I'm tempted in doing it eventually..
Ceej92584 10-12-2007, 12:14 AM i just got the auto gauges off ebay for cheap. guess its a start
Mrog1718 10-13-2007, 01:08 AM also wondering. i just got a 07 wrx and for some reason it has the 2.5i knobs.
Subaru Junkie 10-17-2007, 02:32 PM I just finished installing an 05 sti dash with auto climate in my 02 impreza. It wasn't plug and play, but if you have access to wiring diagrams it's easy as 123.
parts you need:
Heater core,
Blower,
climate control with housing,
plugs with some extra wires (all of them)
Mrog1718 10-17-2007, 11:14 PM so do you end up having to put in a new hvac unit? you cant just put the knobs on?
Subaru Junkie 10-18-2007, 09:11 AM no, you need the whole thing. It has a built in temperature sensor.
jezzy 12-09-2007, 06:10 PM Anyone else perform this ? Do you need to remove the dash to perform this manual->auto climate control ? How about wiring diagrams? Are the existing plugs enough to power the hvac?
I'd love to do this!
thanks
vwown3d 12-09-2007, 08:35 PM search, there are tons of posts on here. take a lot of work.
WagonR 12-09-2007, 11:16 PM ^^^ I've searched both "manual to auto hvac" and "hvac conversion" both of which returned posts that were basically the OP asking about the swap and people saying it was hard, and that the dash had to come out. The only other posts were about changing the color of the hvac, or 02-04 updating to the manual 05 counsel style.
So, does anyone have other search recommendations, or maybe even a link to a post that actually details what is included, or maybe even a write up?
kreature12 04-01-2008, 08:16 PM i have also been searching, if someone who has done this could write a simple how/what you need it would be much appreciated.
suub07 05-28-2008, 03:31 PM a how to would be awesome and much appreciated.
suub07 06-03-2008, 12:08 AM anyone willing to do a rundown of the install??
i would love to know, since i have no idea...
Nuke209 06-03-2008, 12:21 AM also wondering. i just got a 07 wrx and for some reason it has the 2.5i knobs.
Because you got a WRX TR
The regular WRX & Limited version do have the nice HVAC
trex616 09-13-2008, 07:07 AM Bump for this thread. Its all that came up in my search.
2.5iSTI 09-13-2008, 11:54 PM A lot of people that talk and there are some that do(like myself). I am finishing up my STI swap into my 2.5i in which I switched over to the auto a/c in the process. If not doing the swap like I am, You would need the dash harness off of the 2.5i limited, blower motor, Sun load sensor, and the heating/cooling core. Not to mention the dash knobs and radio surround. It is plug and play. Not near as hard or expensive as people say. The hardest part for a 2.5i guy would be finding the Limited harness. Other than that, the rest of the stuff is the same as in STI's and WRX's.
