View Full Version : PDR day at P&L Motorsports - 05/19/2007
P&L Motorsports Inc. 05-01-2007, 12:42 PM Time: 8AM-6PM+
Cost: going to be figured per vehicle, but as a rough estimate 10 dime size dents in accessable locations should be around $100. Harder to get to dents should be between $20-$60 per dent. The hardest to get to will be in the quarter panel regions, etc.
Payment: Assume cash only.
This will be on a first come first serve basis. If I can get a general feel for those interested, they may bring their whole crew with multiple PDR trucks. Ideally, I'd like a rough estimate on the cars coming by the 4th (Friday).
A lot of the Milwaukee guys, especially the road race crowd, may know Nick Sanfilippo. He and his company are the premier PDR guys up there working for all the high end dealerships, and private customers of those marquees. He's also an avid Subaru guy with a bad ass STI we just got done building for him for road racing.
Also, that day we're going to be having our Saab 92X dyno tuning day, so if you wanted to see tuning in action, come on by and check it out!

8Complex 05-01-2007, 01:04 PM Having to move this to the vendor classifieds will cost you 1 dent. ;)
I have to see what is going on that day... I know I have a wedding mid/late this month on a weekend, but not sure which day/weekend. One of mine is a quarter panel, the other is the fender (same side of car), if I can make it out, I'd gladly remove the panels for better access on my own.
BlackSnake 05-01-2007, 01:08 PM Blah, The weekend I decide to go to Lake Geneva
stevebennett 05-01-2007, 01:30 PM I'd be in for it.
eqlized_aero 05-01-2007, 02:10 PM Since I'm going to be there for the dyno day anyway and I have a couple of dings that could use some taking care of... count me in
Oh, and how much to take care of this on john_matrix's car?

Ack! No clue on that.. Are you seriously looking to get that out? If so I can mention it to him, but I can't see that being 100% repairable.

eqlized_aero 05-01-2007, 02:17 PM No no no... just an on going joke because his car has been that way for almost a year now
I might show up, but not 100% positive yet.
As long as pricing is at $10-15 on a easy fix (dime sized on hood)
john_matrix 05-01-2007, 02:29 PM ha thanks andrew. I deserve that.
wrxzboost 05-01-2007, 02:33 PM count me in also...i've been waiting for a pdr meet close to home

eqlized_aero 05-01-2007, 05:30 PM Lookin forward to gettin the 92x tuned on this day!
Wait no PDR? Oh yeah that's right... no need for PDR. Your car is flawless. :D
Good2Go 05-01-2007, 05:55 PM I'll most likely make it. Pencil me in.
pmbassist 05-01-2007, 06:40 PM I'll be there (already posted on www.notfwd.com).
So i'm guessing 1 tiny dent on the door will be under $15?
SloWrX 05-02-2007, 02:17 PM Yessssssssss finally. I'm in. Gonna request off that day.
subydooby 05-02-2007, 04:02 PM Put me down i have a couple that need to come out.

Center of the door, or there abouts, yeah. From what I was told that sounds accurate.

SloWrX 05-03-2007, 01:34 AM Oh...also would there be time that day maybe (and if I still have money) to get my car ProTuned? Or is there a certain amount of time I need to give in advance to schedule a ProTune?

Normally we don't do tuning on weekends. In this case, the Saab92x guys contracted us out for the entire day to tune their cars. So unfortunately while we will be tuning, we won't be tuning... if that makes sense.
Sorry. :(

That's cool. I'll just watch :D . How much time in advance should I give to request a tune?
speelnik 05-03-2007, 05:05 PM put me down for a handfull of dents and dings. Or two handfulls for that matter.

I'm sure they'd want to see it first hand. But judging by what they're saying, if it is removable, I'd guess (being larger) that you're probobly looking in the ~$100 range. All I could tell you is to have me put your name down, and come by for an estimate.

Gary Bechtold 05-07-2007, 06:39 PM I got a slight ding above the rear passenger wheel well on the Supra. Any idea how much that would cost. I have a few door dings on the WRX that I might be able to do also depending on cost. Could I write a check?

As a general rule, assume the $60-100 per dent, but the key here is accessability. If it's easy to get to the back of the panel, I'd expect the cost to drop significantly. Basically, you need to make an objective call on that.
I'd personally assume no checks. But, keep an eye on the main post. At the end of this week I'm calling him up giving him a rough head count, and at that point I'll field all questions like that to him.

DoctorNick 05-08-2007, 09:13 PM I have had this dent in the 04 FXT since late 03
Problem is, its right next to the right tail light and it looks like you need to pull all the plastic/light etc to get to the backside of the dent. Would it be possible to pay a tech to dismantle and reinstall the associated parts nessary to pull the dent?

If this IS the case, count me out. I was quoted 200 from a body shop to remove all dents and dings PDR style. Like I said, I have roughly two handfulls (10-15 dings that need taken care of).
At the rate quoted above, that puts me into the 600-900 dollar range (on the low end).
The old dent guy would charge 10-20 dollars per dent. The price dropped if you had more for him to work on on your car. Not to mention his work was great.
Please update if a more accurate estimation comes along.

I think you misunderstood Jason.
Check out the 1st post.
~10 dime sized dents should be around $100. Things that are larger, inaccessible, etc. would cost more after they had a chance to take a look at it.
Take a look at that post. That was Gary asking about a dent in a wheel well, vs a door, which is a different thing alltogether.
The best thing I can say, Jason is that you come in, and they quote it. You're either happy with the cost, or not.

Got it, I saw what you posted (where I quoted it) and thought that was the cost.
My bad. 10 dings for 100 is more along par with what I was quoted. Thanks for the clarification.

cellobro 05-11-2007, 11:33 AM  figures, I'll be off with wifey celebrating our anniversary... I just knew marriage would be tricky...
4 years/baby coming ftw
EDIT: good question here:
Will there be another date since i will not be able to make it fri?
eqlized_aero 05-11-2007, 12:29 PM As stated above, May 19th is a Saturday.
I take it you're just asking if there is going to be another opportunity

Neal, I'm sure that could be worked out for you. I think we need to really see it to tell for sure though. I'll tentatively put you down for now.
-Jorge
P&L Motorsports Inc. 05-15-2007, 12:24 PM For those asking for an alternate day, let's get through this one first.
I just got off the phone with Nick and confirmed the tentative list. 17 confirmed individuals, and about half a dozen who've walked into the shop wanting in. He's coming down with another truck so he and one of his workers will be doubling up to try and get through everyone ASAP.
What I'm going to do is have a sign up sheet with the customers name, license plate, year/make/model, and time signed in. They'll go down that list on a first come, first serve basis. So, worse case, if you put your name down, and 10 people are in front of you, ya'll can hang out for the Saab dyno day, go get lunch, go do donuts outside, doesn't matter to me. :)
-Jorge
stevebennett 05-15-2007, 12:47 PM Thanks for doing all the legwork Jorge.
jawwadh 05-15-2007, 01:26 PM Im gonna try to get there as early as possible so I can get in and out because I babysit my 4 year old nephew on saturdays so i gotta bring him along. Im sure some of u guys know how frustrating little kids can be.
SloWrX 05-16-2007, 08:15 AM Do you suggest taking off the interior panels to make the cost go down per dent? Or would it be just the same?
8Complex 05-16-2007, 08:55 AM Has anyone set the rate for the time yet? Per dent is like saying that they'll figure it out after they decide if they like you or not.
RiftsWRX 05-16-2007, 09:51 AM Do you suggest taking off the interior panels to make the cost go down per dent? Or would it be just the same?
Oh, without a doubt, the more work you can do, the cheaper it will be.
Nick: Honestly bud, swing by, have them look at it. They can tell you right there, and you either stick around, or hangout/takeoff.

speelnik 05-16-2007, 11:34 AM I am assuming the sign up sheet will be put out the day of?
I don't want to wake up at the butt crack of dawn, get there first thing, only to see 15 names on the list and nobody standing around waiting.

Same
speelnik 05-21-2007, 09:42 AM Just wanted to comment that I am very satisfied with the results of the PDR day. Good work, great price. If this happens again and anyone has a dent, I'd recommend getting it taken care of!
SloWrX 05-21-2007, 02:33 PM Yea. That PDR day was awsome. Gotta sign up for the dyno now :D . Maybe you guys should host a dyno day haha.
