How much are you guys paying for insurance on RS's? What category is the 2.5RS in? Sports Compact? I'm about to turn 19 with a clean record, hopefully the insurance wouldn't be too bad. Any figures would help.

I believe that the RS is NOT classified as a sports car, merely a compact. Insurance rates are pleasantly low (unless you're under 25 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif ).

My RS is about 300 a year more expensive to insure than my Impreza L was three years ago, but that could just be a result of my Bronco incident. I'll give you a then and now...
Then:
Me, clean driving record with a single comp claim, 21 years old, $1600 a year
Pre-then: Me, no claims at all, 20 y/o, $2200 a year.
Now: One collision claim (just my vehicle and a wall), 24y/o, probably still have that comp claim, $1900 a year.

FWIW, I pay 600 a year for my audi... I turn 25 in 2 months so it should be cheaper then. Sorry I don't have a scooby but i did test drive a wrx if that counts. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif I'm hanging on to my audi for a little while longer to see what subaru plans on doing with the wrx in the next year or so. I like the Audi but i'm no fanboy and I appreciate any car that can handle and put a little excitement in my life whether that means a fancy interior or stellar performance.
Oh, by the way... I have a clean driving record (no accidents or tickets for the 9 years i've been driving) and I have full coverage.

23, unmarried, no tickets or accidents, insure in upstate NY (middle of nowhere), and I pay $1400 a year (full insurance w/ 500 deductable) for my MY01 RS Coupe.

When I had a 98 Civic EX Coupe in 1998, I was 20 years old, and I had to pay $3200 / year for the same insurance coverage until I turned 21.

20 years old - strike 1
haven't been driving 3 years yet- strike 2
have 2 tickets - strike 3 and a fine...

I pay 180 a month for insurance. In one year it will drop. Cause then I will have no tickets, and will have been driving for 3 years

Ohhh wanna hear something real real scary. I was gonna get a WRX but found out what insurance would be if I went out and got my own policy. $420 a month!!!! yeah! so...I don't own a WRX.

i just got my geico insurance renewal in the mail, and the rates went up $60/6 months! i didn't even do anything. musta been other people getting into too many accidents. geez...

update: yeah, i was right. it's because of other ppl getting into wrecks. this is a quote from the email response i got from them: "As with all insurance companies, GEICO periodically reviews its loss statistics to determine if our rates are adequate to cover the cost of claims. The results of our analysis indicated that it was necessary to increase our premium levels. Insurance companies frequently reevaluate their rates in the light of economic conditions and the driving record of the insuring public. In this way, we are able to realize the purpose of insurance - the equal distribution of the losses
amount the insuring public."

you want cheap insurance, try this:

1. Turn 25
2. get married
3. become a woman
4. drive a 4x2 small pickup

Okay, so there's only one thing on the list we practically have control over. (getting married, stupid. Who on earth would willingly drive a 4x2 small truck?) If you want an RS or WRX, just factor insurance into your monthly costs and deal with it. I had to go with a longer term loan to deal with insurance costs, but now that I'm married and 25 things are much better.

I'm 39, married, and have three claims in the last five years, one comp, one blameless, one hit-and-run. I pay $890 a year for my new WRX through Allstate, roughly $50 per six month period more than I was paying for my Legacy GT wagon. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well I am married and betweent he two of us our insurance is $200 a month. This also include renter's insurance, but his car insurance is more than mine. Probably because it is a Legacy GT wagon and mine is an RS.

Hi, I'm 17 and have a MY'01 2.5RS sedan.
I have Allstate Insurance and I pay $2200.00 per year.
- Maybe someone can answer this: I have 1 ticket from a previous car back in December of '00 but it was nollied. Does anyone know if that ticket penalizes my insurance rates? I pleaded not guilty and went to court and it was dismissed, so would that hurt me? Thanx.
