If you like it fine, we generally stick to the main known fluids listed in the maintenance sticky at the top of this forum. No need to try weird stuff when the knowns have been around for infinity.

That is what Redline recommended for my car, NS for 5mt and front differential, plain for the rear differential. It's been in my wrx since 02, mileage now about 124,000, with changes about every 30,000 miles. This
doesn't seem to work for everyone.

Glad you like it. I actually use a 50/50 mix of the 75W90NS and Lightweight Shockproof. Good stuff and no reason to change.

I used the red-line MT fluid in my 02 GTi and my 89 Trooper (with 400,000 original transmission). Both responded greatly to it.

i'm using the same combi and it's the best i have tried so far. buttery smooth gear shifts and no issues getting into 1st gear while on the move. but it seems harder to get into reverse gear -> does anyone has this prob?
and pardon my ignorance, i finally realise why pp call lightwt shockproof 'smurf blood'. it just looks something out of this world...

Good to hear that the 75w90NS and shockproof works ok. I am planning on doing it this weekend. That was what redline suggested, but I had read some bad stories about it on another forum.
Thanks for the info

Don't know what you had read/heard but I have been using the combo for 4 years (?) anyway and I still like it so I stick to what I know works for me.
One issue that Redline has mentioned on this forum before is that the *Shockproof* line shouldn't be used in STi transmissions.
Reason is because Shockproof is designed to cling to the metal. In an STi transmission, the gear oil is pumped through the transmission. Pumping a fluid designed to cling to the metal tends to clog the lines.
You don't have that problem in a WRX transmission because it is a *splash box*, where the fluid is splashed around and not pumped.
