Press Release:

Scion, of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., announced pricing today for the 2008 tC sports coupe and tC Spec Package models. The 2008 tC and tC Spec Package will be available at dealerships next month.

The core model tC receives freshened styling, new standard equipment and safety features for 2008. Exterior changes include a new upper mesh grille, lattice lower grille, projector-type low beam headlights with black trim, and rear tail lights similar in style to the tC's headlights with round combination lamps. The tC also receives a deep orange combination meter on the instrument panel, silver-colored accents on the door assist grips and center cluster, updated seat fabric and a Pioneer subwoofer located under the cargo area.

Like all 2008 Scion models, the tC comes standard with seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, and two complimentary factory-recommended maintenance services, at 5,000 and 10,000 miles, at any Scion or Toyota dealer. The factory recommended maintenance includes an oil change, a tire rotation, a visual brake inspection, and the topping off of washer fluid.

Apple iPod connectivity becomes standard on all 2008 Scion models. Scion's standard 160-watt maximum output Pioneer AM/FM/CD audio system features a head unit with iPod control. This head unit integrates track, artist and album information from the iPod into a one-line display on the head unit's screen. Connectivity is achieved by simply plugging the iPod into a port via a connector cable, providing outstanding sound quality through the car's stereo system and constant power to the iPod. Music is controlled through the head unit, steering wheel audio controls or iPod. A standard mini-jack port also allows users to listen to their portable music collection through the tC's Pioneer speakers.

Scion also offers a Pioneer Premium audio system that adds the ability to download “skins” to play on the organic electroluminescent (OEL) faceplate. Customers can download images, four-second video clips and eight-second movies from Pioneer's website. Pioneer software also allows customers to burn their own images and movies onto a CD and upload them onto the available head unit. The Premium audio system also has head unit outputs on the rear for the addition of external amps.

New to the accessory line up for the 2008 model year is the Scion navigation system. The system features a 160-watt maximum power audio/video/navigation unit with seven-inch LCD touch screen.

The tC Spec Package model, a blank canvas for the tuner community to express its creativity, also receives the grille, deep orange combination meter and silver-colored interior accents in addition to the new airbags and iPod connectivity across the Scion line-up.

The tC Spec Package will have a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $15,300 for a manual transmission and $16,100 for an automatic transmission, an increase of $300, or 2.0 percent and 1.9 percent respectively. With the additional standard equipment, the base MSRP for the core model tC is $17,000 for the manual transmission and $17,800 for the automatic transmission, an increase of $600, or 3.7 percent and 3.5 percent respectively. MSRP does not include delivery, processing and handling fees, which vary depending on location

Isn't it time for a body change already? Its a lice looking car, but it is getting a little old.

-Projector headlights
-FULL Ipod integration
-Optional 7" Nav system
Wow, nice upgrade for an already outstanding value... add bluetooth and smartkey and I'd be seriously interested.

The car has been out for no more than two years. It's definitely not due for a change yet. The fact of the matter is that the style is not getting old... you're just seeing too many of them on the road.

For the price, it's really a great looking car. Even for much more money it's a great looking car.

I used to have an 06, great bang for the buck and excellent in a wreck, we walked away from a 70mph rollover where we landed on our roof. I had a couple scratches on my head from the glass, she had a couple cracked ribs from slamming into the armrest when we bounced on the driver's side. That alone is worth the money this car is worth. Another reason why a strong external cage is so important. These cars are all glass on the top, a little different than the frameless doors on the subies, but you have to beef up the same part of the body.

No, because when you make major changes to the body style every other year, you run out of originality and start coming up with **** that looks like this:

If only subaru would have kept a similar design to the 04/05 WRX.....

Sorry, I disagree with you. I think that the 08 WRX looks just fine the way it is.

The fact of the matter is that the style is not getting old... you're just seeing too many of them on the road. The '05s came out in Spring '04. It's been 3 years. The problem is that Audi has already moved on to a new look, and Scion hasn't.

Frankly, I was all jazzed about the look of the Scion.. but after driving one, riding in one and inspecting the tiny little cargo area under the hatch, it's lost all of its original luster in my eyes. It drives like an old camry, doesn't have enough headroom for anyone over 5' 10", rides like a boat and has less room for people and cargo than my 2 door RS.

That's some killer logic there. You're saying that a glass roof has to be as strong as a Subaru's roof because it's glass? Unless you've performed the same 70mph rollover in other cars, it means nothing for comparison's sake.

We got rear-ended in our miata and didn't die.. it must be a very safe car to own.

Well I forgot to mention when we landed on the roof and it didn't even flex, both doors opened up and we crawled out. A rear end collision is completely different than a rollover. You are right it isn't a direct corrlelation, just a similarity. If you want to be a rude *******, im sorry, i didn't know that sharing an experience with a car was wrong. People like you make forums annoying at times. Thanks for being a d!ck.

tc is gutless. And it's soo narrow. Feel like you've got two people squeezed into the cockpit of a fighter jet - but a really slow, non-performing, good on gas fighter jet.

Well, they fixed one of the things I truly wanted to see. The headlights. A car like that deserves projectors (ditto for teh civic).

One thing stopping me from buying a tC is the manual transmission. In the 2 test drives I've had, I couldn't seem to get a smooth release of the clutch, as if the damn clutch itself had variable pressure.

I wonder if the headlights will be easy to retrofit. Methinks it'll be a piece of cake.

This is exactly why overly emotional people with thin skin shouldn't talk about their own crashes with any authority on safety. Safety isn't an emotional issue.. it's a technical one.

It's not just the tC, all of the Scions are this way. After 10K I still had a ton of problems getting smooth transitions. Switched to a lightweight Fidanza Flywheel and a meaner clutch and it got a ton better.

choloman05, you are right, stock it is gutless. . .but the cars are designed to be modded. . .hell you can get a supercharger from the factory that bumps you just over 200hp. You can even buy a stripped down version with black steelies and hubcaps for those that know they are going to put wheels are right away. They are definately mod-freindly.

Most guys run a turbo and put down ~300 wheel hp. It is super easy to fit in there. Before I wrecked mine I had a header, highflow cat, borla catback exhaust, CAI, bigger injectors and all the suspension goods: new struts, springs, swaybars, 17x8 wheels, strut tower braces. It handled like a champ, turbo was next on the list. 300 hp on that motor is no problem for 100K at least. Too bad it was wrecked :(

Given all of that it was a nice car, being 6'3; 225lbs I fit pretty well. . .I can't say the same for the current WRX, my shoulder is on the door jam constantly and that's the only reason I didn't get one to replace the tC. I hope the new versions are bigger, they say they will be. It is a good car, excellent for a cheap daily driver/modable car that can still pull 20mpg city. Scion really swept the market with this car. Would I buy one again??? No, I won't buy anything with under 250hp again. . .but it was a good/fun investment.

I love mine! Handles like a champ and it's as fast as my 2002 WRX was stock (about $1800 in mods on the TC).
I get much better mileage too.
