Chrysler is about to announce that the Dodge Hornet Euro B-Car is going to be produced. The car will be produced by Chinese automaker Chery and there will not be a Chrysler version of the car.
The concept version of the Hornet was unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Auto Show and Chrysler could unveil a pre-production version of the car at the Frankfurt Auto Show this fall.
The concept Hornet had a supercharged 170 horsepower 4-cylinder engine that was capable of going 0-60 in 6.7 seconds.
It hasn't been confirmed if we will get it here in the U.S. Chrysler could use this car in the U.S.

Valhakar 06-07-2007, 04:38 PM The Hornet name is left over from AMC ( American Motor Corp) that Chrysler bought out to get the Jeep brand. AMC was a mix of poor build quality and leading edge concepts. The Outback we take for granted had its roots in the AMC Spirit. The Hornet and Pacer were small compact cars but they came with a fuel efficient build or the AMC 350 CU v-8 as well.
Well enough useless history, I only commented because my dad had a Hornet as a company car in 75.
Hazdaz 06-07-2007, 06:10 PM I am happy to see that it is going into production, but more than a little disappointed to hear that it's gonna be built in China.
I think this car could be a real hit for Dodge - interesting styling, should be quite fuel efficient and hopefully will have good handling... basically an American Mini Cooper... that is unfortunately built by Chery.
bemani 06-07-2007, 07:32 PM Wonder what the arrangement is to keep the Chinese from stealing the whole design.

I think they are smart enough not to steal a design from an American car company.

They made the military spec hummer HMMMV (High Mobility Multipurpose Military Vehicle) and Bradely fighting vehicle for the Army. Hmmmm...the lowest bidder always gets the government contracts.
Spenk 06-07-2007, 07:55 PM BIG thumbs up!:D We seriously need more small cars.
Pssst!--Hey Chrysler, put a diesel in it!
impreza99 06-08-2007, 12:08 AM I like it hope it gets to the us
roksax 06-08-2007, 01:00 AM I think they are smart enough not to steal a design from an American car company.

I like this car, it would be a good move in America to have this car available
Superglue WRX 06-08-2007, 01:22 AM The idea of a new Chrysler has the same affect on me as a commercial for a new toothbrush.
roksax 06-08-2007, 01:27 AM yeah... I really don't get all this toothbrush technology... it's all a bunch of bullcrap
brianbot5000 06-08-2007, 04:24 AM I've never been a big Chrysler fan, but I am a car fan, and I like to see good cars come out on market. And if they're from US automakers, even better. Chrysler should come out with this one in the US market. It's an appealing model.
I could do without the "look at me I'm an air intake" intake on the side of the hood...
NismoSkylineGTR 06-08-2007, 05:45 AM chery in my opinion is the best chiense auto maker but i still wont drive one yet until its proven to be a safe car
Beaverboy 06-08-2007, 09:51 AM I think they are smart enough not to steal a design from an American car company. ...

mh_WRX 06-08-2007, 11:41 AM This is a step in the right direction. Not quite the Razor, but...
Derbagger 06-08-2007, 05:05 PM I can see the Honda Fit guys complaining about one of these pullinig up to him and yelling that his car is "teh F4STAR"
Beaverboy 06-08-2007, 06:11 PM I see Dodge Hornet drivers complaining about all manner of vehicles pulling up next to them and asking "That thing got a Hemi??" and then laughing hysterically as they drive off.

Funny, I was thinking more people would ask, "That thing got a tarp so I don't have to look at it ever again?"
mykrrrr 06-11-2007, 08:50 AM They shoulda called it the Superbee.
That's pretty cool if they bring it here.
Beaverboy 06-11-2007, 10:05 AM Along those lines.. they should just name it after this guy:

Ha! I have a great 'Rumble with the Bumble' Tshirt I pull out for the holidays...too funny
soulbazz 06-11-2007, 01:49 PM Personally, I think Dodge should hurry up and get both the Hornet and the Deamon to market as soon as possible.
I think both cars would be really good additions to their lineup and provide much needed small cars in their showroom.
While I'm not a big Dodge/Chrysler fan I think the Deamon, although being late to the game, would give consumers another option to think about when purchasing a Miata/Solstice/Sky.
And the Hornet would be something no other American company can compete with directly, especially if they brought both the supercharged version and a NA version to market.
I say go for it and do it quick!
roksax 06-11-2007, 02:02 PM yeah, dodge really needs some performance vehicles that are under 30k, they need to get on it!
ptclaus98 06-13-2007, 09:03 PM That is pretty ugly.
John C 06-14-2007, 09:49 AM If they try and sell that in europe they will sell about 3.

+1
America's got the ungainly SUVs, but Europe has an even wider variety of awkward and unsightly vehicles, IMO.
Hazdaz 06-14-2007, 06:08 PM If they try and sell that in europe they will sell about 3.
Europe loves them small hatches - this thing could be a hit there.... assuming it's actually built right, with a high-quality interior and gets good mileage. Europe (for the most part) doesn't put up with poorly built cars and gas guzzlers, like we do over here.

Ohhhhh.. well in that case, yeah, they'll sell about 3.
roksax 06-15-2007, 12:26 PM they buy french cars... and they sure aren't put together right!
Mr.Sparkle 06-15-2007, 01:34 PM That thing is FUGLY. None for me thanks.
BrysImpreza 06-16-2007, 09:52 AM I hope the Supercharged 4 makes it here, best move for Chrysler ever

Only because they cost as much as a good pair of jeans.
