View Full Version : Who knows about car steros?
kyleblix 06-14-2007, 10:15 PM Mine has been getting quieter laterly, like i keep having to turn it up louder to hear it. Today i got in the car and had to turn it up almost all the way to hear it at all, both cd and radio. Later i got back in the car it was working again, just quiet. It's nothing fancy just a sony.
Is it about to die?

No but your ears are :D ;) Quit bumpin' that Rap and Hip Hop so loud Kyle
ponamy 06-15-2007, 12:35 AM that would've been my suggestion as well
theni saw the word sony. they make great playstations, but.............
subnoize 06-15-2007, 12:48 AM You probably just used up the units life span. I'm sure they make them to break... if they didn't then no one would buy new ones.
Firestrike 06-15-2007, 01:55 AM yeah, sounds like it is burning out. Get something else.
kyleblix 06-15-2007, 03:30 AM  I don't even listen to much rap/hiphop. most of the new stuff is garbage.
But i figured it was going out on me. Just thought i'd see if this was a common problem with some sort of easy fix

I would say that your ears are going too...too much janet jackson!
Firestrike 06-15-2007, 12:28 PM omg Janet!
If you need someone to install a new stereo, Kyle, I can help ya out.
Mavrik 06-15-2007, 12:31 PM yours have a reset behind the faceplate? my brother had a sony in his grand am that did that. kept getting quiet to the point it wouldn't even play. there was a reset button behind the faceplate (removable faceplate) which we reset and it worked fine after that. but I'm no expert on sound systems.

+1 my friend's did the same and when i reset it, the problem was non-existant..
kyleblix 06-15-2007, 02:31 PM see thats what i'm talking about. So was the reset button on the back of the faceplate itself or on the unit itself.........haha unit
Firestrike 06-15-2007, 02:32 PM I don't know what is so funny about unit.. but the button is on the unit itself.
Mavrik 06-15-2007, 02:33 PM *SNICKER* He said unit tee hee

kyleblix 06-15-2007, 02:47 PM Cool thanks guys i'll check it out later today.
seascooby 06-15-2007, 02:55 PM hey kyle if you need to pick a new one up come talk to me
AKLGT 06-15-2007, 02:58 PM  boys and their "units"
kyle, you know you want another stereo, so just use this as an excuse to upgrade ;)
kyleblix 06-15-2007, 03:43 PM  I know i do. When it started getting quiet I was pissed for about 3 seconds, then i was like oooo, new stereo time
We'll see though. I need some torco and I just ordered headers and uppipe. So the stereo might have to wait a while.
if you are on a budget, but want a good radio, i have a recommendation...
i know the company has a "cheap" reputation.. but a lot of their products are actually pretty damn nice.. its the pioneer 4900. It retails for around 160-180.. I personally have it in my WRX and LOVE it. it makes the stock speakers sound pretty good, and it gets LOUD. The screen is tight looking, shows u the artist and song title and fun stuff like that.. its got a aux input as well, so on road trips i hook my computer directly up to it for my mp3 archive =) Sounds EXCELLENT!
ponamy 06-15-2007, 09:20 PM jvc arsenal ar450 or 350, i think it was the 350.
costs approximately $100
50w x4
mp3 player, ipod ready, xm sattelite ready. sounds pretty good in my car. cardomain.com ships em up pretty quick and inexpensive.

kemosabe 06-16-2007, 03:01 PM hahahaha good thread...this makes me think...if car stereos are runnin that cheap...maybe i should upgrade...and then think about replacing the amp (if even possible in an easy take out put in fashion)
