 I have a 2000 Forester and i took the gauge cluster apart because i am planning on putting led's in it. when i put the tach needle back on it is now either slow and delayed or doesn't work at all. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?
thanks in advance

It sounds to me you may have damaged the tach somehow when you placed the needle back on the shaft.

You're not supposed to take the needles off. Many people have ruined their gauges by doing so while attempting to install different faces/lighting etc.
While it may be possible to adjust/fix the needle so it works properly again, the most likely outcome of this will be that you need a new cluster.

i read that you arfe not supposed to take the needles off, after i took them off. I got the speedometer to work fine but the tach the whole shaft pulled out and it is now just slow at times.
