Seems my alternator has given up the ghost. A new OEM unit will cost about $400. I don’t know what the aftermarket ones cost or if they should even be considered. I hear I can get mine rebuilt for about $70. What’s your opinion on the best path to take?
For what it’s worth, I have a GT30R kit and a mild stereo install (200WRMS amp on sub).

napa used to have lifetime warranties on their reman's, and probably cost about $150 or so.

Be careful....Subarus don't take kindly to aftermarket alternators.....seriously.
i have tried to help customers out in the past and installed aftermarket alternators (from different parts stores) and always end up putting an OEM in because the aftermarkets don't work properly.
Trust me, save yourself the headaches and buy OEM.
You can do a search on here...i know it has been discussed before.

why? i'd be curious as to the reason? my experience with aftermarket reman alternators is that they are essentially identical to OEM. New windings, new regulator, new bearings.

I honestly don't know why, I am just going by experience. I guess it all depends on where you get it from, but I have tried several with the same results.
