so i'm thinking of selling the 05 LGT and getting either a 07 STi or wait for the 08 STi to come. i think getting a 07 now, pricing shouldnt be that bad... assuming they are going to start clearing room for the new models. but then thinking about the 08, there is not THAT much detail on the STi as of yet, but plenty on the WRX/S-GT. rumors here and there. i even read on road and track that it is rumored that the 08 STi would come with 18" BBS and 6-pot brembos..... but then when looking closer at the pic on road and track, i noticed that the BBS rims were photoshopped on.

so just wondering what the VIC'ers would recomend me do.

thanks inadvance for your inputs:)

Buy my 06 STi! hehe

Personally, I would go for an 07 STi if you must buy new. I don't like the 08's just based on looks alone. Personal preference!

i dont think the 08 looks all that great either. only like the scoop cause it seems to flow so well with the hood. but i am worried that i will regret it later on because there isnt much specs out yet..... but can't imagine myself without a car in the summer..... especially when there will probably be countless meets.

Unless you have no budget restraints, I'd take a serious look at lostmind's 06'. It's in great shape, owned by someone who doesn't beat their belongings. Plus, there is little difference in styling between the 06' and 07'. With the money you save buying a used 06', you could buy a set of wheels right away and still have $$$ left over.

Something to think about.

If you're going to buy new, I would seriously look into buying it across the border. With the dollar where it is right now, you're sure to save several thousand dolllars, even with all the duty etc.

If it was me, I would be buying lostmind's car right now! :D Seriously. Low km's, RCE springs, 2 sets of tires, and $10K off new price? Buy it!

If you're not in a rush, I'd wait. By the time the 08 sti comes out the 07's will be discounted by quite a bit. Personally I like how the 08 sti look (well so far). Minus the fugly front grill I think the 08 sti looks pretty good.

I recommend you sticking with the Legacy!!

I thought we were different and proud of it...? But now you want to be like all these WRX guys and join their club? No more Legacy love, Chris buddy?:( ;)

If you thought that getting hassled by the cops in a Legacy was bad....... wait til you're in the STi!

haha... i'm still considering it geoff. my dad wants me to sell it because of all the tickets. he said that after i started mod'ing it, it catches to much attention. he even told that he doesnt like driving it anymore cause he ends up getting pulled over for no reason.

so if i have to sell it, i still want my next car to be a subie.

haha.. the worst thing of all is that i'm almost finished paying off my car and soon i will be having to take up more shifts for the STi price difference.

thats such dumb logic...selling a LGT for an sti so you wont get as many tickets.

Indeed.
It's almost backwards logic, because the last time I checked, the STi was pretty obvious out there on the roads, especially a WRB one.

If you want a low key vehicle, go for the Forester XT. Now that is a very cool turbo mini-ute.

neither!

don't sell your GT, it's so much nicer than the other two...

Keep your legacy, my friend!!!

Your ride is my favorite out of all the other legacys in the lower mainland!

I wouldn't buy an 08 personally... Subaru seems to be changing their look every 2 years anyway.

Probably sell it and pick up an 07.

I agree completely and was about to write the same thing... but Giotein is young and hip and the STi appeals to his demographic...

But Giotein: thinking that you WON'T mod your potentially new STi is a silly thought. I'd bet you $1000.00 that you will mod it eventually, and you'll be in the same boat all over again x10.

A visually modded STi a cop magnet. Guys get pulled over in those cars standing still.

I totally hear you about having your dad borrow your car and then get upset with it being so modded... that's why I have to keep the sleeper look on my GT. If my wife and kids got pulled over and hassled with a vehicle inspection while they were out borrowing it one day, I'd be super upset with myself.

Not to mention that I'd never hear the end of it from her!

keep your legacy and downgrade it for the time being.
Part out some stuff that you'd think will get you in trouble from the cops

Didn't BBS close down?
How did they get BBS's for the 08 STI.

But yeah, you should keep your LEGGY cuz it'll be so much more better than getting an STI. There aren't much nicely modded LGT's out there, unlike your's. I'd be more..."crazy about giotein" seeing him in his "omgwtfsonicelegacy" than seeing you and "omgitsapignoseKIASTI".

I believe they filed for bankruptcy...but I don't know what happened after that.

I can picture the workers running around in the factory shouting...
"OMG BBS NO MONEY!!!"

that is true. but another thing drawing me into buying an STi is what the cop said to me.... "as long as it comes factory it is perfectly legal". and with the LGT don't think i can ever return it to stock.
