View Full Version : Stock BMW tires
reK evohn 06-19-2007, 03:03 PM Anyone know of any problems with the new bimmer tires? My stepmoms cars tires are BALD (threads showing) after only 5k miles. Its an 07 330 with the stock tires. Oh and Im being blamed for it because I drove her car for about 2 hours and she thinks i messed them up. Bitch please
waktasz 06-19-2007, 03:08 PM Front or rears bald or both?
I'd guess either
1- Your mom does lots burnouts to impress the other women at the office
2- Really bad alignment
I'd take it to an alignment shop (NOT THE DEALER) and have them print out the specs. Then take your printout to the dealer and try to demand new tires.
007WRX 06-19-2007, 05:21 PM If your talking about the Continentals Contisport contact, my mothers has them and nothing bad at all. 01 330i

Its just the rears. Its quite odd. To me it seems even if you did do a lot of burnouts the threads still wouldnt be showing at 5k.
I think its either the tires or the alignment...but the stepmom is stubborn as hell and will only go to the dealer for this instead of listening to me.
Lol and Ive only driven the car for about 2 hours total and It's all my fault...:furious::mad:
waktasz 06-19-2007, 06:12 PM I'm interested to know what the dealer says. It might not be in their best interest to be honest of the alignment is screwy, that's why I suggested and independent shop for that.
ButtDyno 06-19-2007, 07:19 PM I didn't think they still made the 330? I thought it was just the 328 and the 335 now.
infinite012 06-19-2007, 11:31 PM just an fyi, tire manufacturers do not give tread life guarantees on tires that come equipped on a vehicle. something i learned today the hard way.
and it's especially suspicious that just the rears are showing the metal thread.

Umm, no, you could kill them quite quickly actually. 5k miles with some "burnouts" could easily take those tires down.
Looks like we might be looking at our answer then huh?
Web Foot STi 06-20-2007, 12:01 AM Bad toe can burn out tyres fast, but it has to be mis adjusted, or whacked out.
Hit a curb?
krzyss 06-20-2007, 09:28 AM rear tires gone on RWD car.
Are there any signs of rubber residue in rear wheel well?

Negative. I drove the car normally while I had it and my stepmom wouldnt do any burnouts.

Negative as well. I pointed that out to them too but they are stickin to their retarded theory lol. Our local bimmer dealer is just a bunch of pricks.
flukewrx 06-20-2007, 07:37 PM Sucks about the tires wearing out that quickly, but on the bright side the tires can now be upgraded. I've read quite a few 330 owners upgrading to the RE050A PP's and absolutely loving them. Definitely recommend taking it to an independent alignment shop and seeing what the deal is with the settings of the alignment.
waktasz 06-20-2007, 09:29 PM So did they figure out what it was that caused it? I still think you should have taken it for an alignment check elsewhere.

I know but she just wont listen to me. And shes getting the same exact tires put back on and paying $800 for just the 2 tires. She wants to see if they wear out again to prove that it was really me i guess. She = very close minded

+a billion. But once again...she just wont listen to me.
Uncle Scotty 06-21-2007, 01:31 AM kick her in the crotch for being stupid
brett s 06-21-2007, 09:25 AM The wear pattern would easily show if it was an alignment issue - if it's nice & even, not feathered it's from the idiot behind the wheel...
waktasz 06-21-2007, 10:13 AM I guess it's nice to be made of money :). They don't sell those tires at the tirerack? There are no tires that should cost $400 each.
