I need some help installing hid's into my buddies bug eye.

They are the ebay "jdm" hid kit. I installed this same kit on a 04 and it worked great.

My problem is that the bugeye has 3 wires coming out of the 9007 connector when there is only 2 that goes into the ballast.

do I connect the positive to the middle wire on the 9007 and then the ground wire from the low?

He doesn't care about having a high beam, we just need to get it to work as his low beam.

Search for a wiring diagram, that'll answer your question.

Make sure you disable the DRL.

Which ebay "kit" exactly?

The DRL's are disabled and I did a search :).

I am trying to see how others bypassed the extra wire that is coming for the high beam ground.

I'm not sure that this is a good idea. Is this kit being installed in a usdm bugeye housing?

you can't 'bypass' it you have to just figure out which one is the lowbeam and use that one and the positive wire.

and since it sounds like you're not changing the optics, and only changing the light source, i'm going to tell you to read the FAQ and that if i see your friend on the road(i drive through san clemente a lot) i'm going to hit him up with my 240w of halogen in order to let him know what a dumbass he is for 'not caring about highbeams' / installing improper lighting.

bugeye headlights glare like crazy with hid kits and annoy/endanger everyone who has to look at them... and you can't see any better than halogen anyway. if he wants hid, do a real retrofit with oem hid optics and d2s hids.

Yes it is.

The hid system doesn't have an option to change from hi to low beam.

A retrofit would be great and all, but he doesn't have the time or money to pursue it.

He purchased the hid kit because his headlight harness' fried and needed to be replaced. The hid kit was cheaper then what the dealer wanted to replace oem parts.

The glare isn't a hazard to others, maybe if you get to the level of the beam and start directly into them...

I don't know what your smoking but from my personal experience the visibility is 1000 times better then the halogen bulbs.

Please post pics of the beam pattern so others can see what you're talking about.

If you're saying that a HID kit in the stock halogen reflectors does not produce glare, well, I believe that you'll have at least one person ready to argue your opinion.

:)

I am not sure what you mean about the beam pattern.

I parked my car about 30 feet from the wall and took a picture of the pattern the headlights made.

In this pic, there is no glare. That is another way of saying that there is no light directed above the cutoff line, so there is no chance of light shining into the eyes of other drivers on the road.

If you're wondering what the differences between halogen and HID optics are, this thread is a great place to do some learning.

if you can't do something right, and doing it wrong endangers or annoys others, you shouldn't do it at all.

if he doesn't have the money, why on earth did he buy an HID kit? i made a headlight harness for 40 bucks. you're saying he got an hid kit with a wiring harness for less? cmon man. don't insult your own intelligence.

visibility does not improve with improper optics, the hotspotting and glare makes it harder to see things where they need to be seen- on the periphery and at a distance.

i don't smoke... except for when i smoke fools in my camaro supersport.
