Just put a new 255 walbro in and have a quick question for those of you who have them. I put it all together, put it back in, tightened all of the 8mm nuts, than effd up and over tightened one of them and sheared off one of the bolts. I started the car, revved it up a lot, and no gas leaked out. Should I be worried I am going to diaf?

I think you need to learn your limits to tightening things, but other than that I think you should be fine. If you start to smell gas then I would take a look back there for leakage.

its understandable, they really take no torque at all.

Do you need a retune for putting up a walbro? I have one sitting at my desk for the longest time thinking I need a retune for that.

no you do not. The fuel pump just helps when tuning

the hose from the pump that sends fuel from one side of the tank to the other ruptured on my car and i drove about 5 miles before i noticed and i turned my car on and off about 3 times. it was leaking tons of gas. Im still alive and so is my car so you should be alright.

Wrong ask any tuner in the subaru feild and they will tell you ,you do..

people have to get retuned for changing air filters (drop in vs. cai)

mogrl840
07-05-2007, 06:51 PM
to gain anything from it you do. The stock fuel rails and regulators won't let it pump more than the car needs without being tuned for it.

Why dont you tune your car with the stock one then switch it and tell what your A/F looks like

mogrl840
07-05-2007, 07:09 PM
I did not say if you were tuned with the stock one and then put an after market one in you will not need a RETUNE for the new fuel pump. He asked if the car needed to be tuned after a walbro fuel pump. He did not say, I was tuned with the stock fuel pump and changed it do I need a retune?

Usually if your getting an upgraded Fuelpump your gonna upgrade your injectors.

07-05-2007, 07:50 PM
^ yep. I have a fuel pump in already I am just saving up for some injectors and I think I should be good for a bit. Those damn injectors can get kinda pricey. What injectors do you like?

Now back on topic...
You're not gonna diaf. I was at my Uncle's house and
he was changing his fuel pump while he was smoking a cigar.
I started backin away slowy from him. He said wtf, ya think I'm gonna blow up ?
Then he held the cigar about an inch away from the raw gas and
nothing happened. Tripped me out.
I'm sure if an ash would've fallen, I wouldn't have an uncle anymore.
Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it unless ya start to smell gas.

Your lucky we are not addressing a death of a Nasioc member your uncle is not the brightest bulb ,people have started fires at the gas station from a static spark much smaller than a cigar flame.Man you are lucky.....

Tell me about it
It was a long time ago and I know my uncle is a dolt
I don't like him any more anyways
He kept tryin to rip my gma off right b4 she died
I actually wanna punch him throat, he's not even my full uncle too

There will be a puddle of gas, then a puddle of beer, and a few moments later a puddle of urine as he pisses himself when he catches on fire.

lol. I am not to worried about it. although the whole smoking while changing a fuel pump would just seem like a horrible idea.

You can usually take an open flame to a puddle of gasoline or a bucket or something and the gasoline will more than likely put it out. This is why we need molecularization :). << Spell check??

a cigar or cigarette is not hot enough to ignite gasoline. however a static discharge spark is many many times hotter than that. that is way a spark can set gas off but a flame might not. its all about what temp things reach their bursting point, and how long they are exposed to that temp.

It cant light the puddle of gas but it light the fumes which can light the puddle :D
