Okay so after I got to Okinawa and after searching furiously I could only find a 93 WRX for sale.(People tend to hang onto their WRX's over here so I got lucky to find this one) The car seemed to be in okay shape for a 14 year old car so I went ahead and bought it. Now that I have more time to look it over I've noticed a few things. 1) It would appear that either the oil fill spout has a leak or the valve cover seal has a leak as there is oil on the front part of the block and the front 3/4's of the passenger side valve cover. 2) There appears to be a leak in a turbo seal somewhere, I can see it on the top part of the cold side of the turbo facing the front of the car, but since they have little duct that funnels air onto the turbo it's hard to tell. 3) I need a new heater core. 4) The guy who had the car before me didn't care about the car and was a complete and utter sack of **** slob.

My questions are will a USDM WRX turbo work on my 93 JDM WRX, I don't really know jack about where a heater core is, but could fluid from it leak at the described areas and make it look like I have oil leaks, and who knows where I can get good information on repairing this beast? Something with exploded views and torque specs, fluid capacities and types of recommended fluids. No owners manual came with the car. Anyhelp and direction would be greatly appreciated.

Well, this isn't the place to ask such a question, as your 93 WRX is technically still new-school.

Old-school cars in this category are the EA-series cars (DL, GL, Loyale, XT, Justy... etc.)

Second, I don't see why you would want our ****ty USDM TD04 turbo, when you're in Japan and would readily have access to VF22s and VF30s and VF36 twin-scrolls and so on and so forth.

As for the other questions, just search through the forum and you're bound to find an answer somewhere.

A thousand pardons, I had no idea a 14 year old car wasn't old enough to be old school, and I didn't see a GC8 section of the forums.

At the time I posted this, there was NOTHING readily available. Okinawa isn't mainland Japan, I don't have access to the same resources someone on mainland would.

Of course, that's the answer to everything, I'll try some more of that.

It's not an age thing so much as a generation thing.

The aforementioned EA cars are a completely different generation of Subarus. Suspension's completely different, engine's completely different, etc.

The Legacy came out in 1990 (well, in Japan, 1989) and it was a completely new car from the ground up...

... and EVERY new-gen Subaru built (all Legacies, all Imprezas, all Foresters, all Tribecas, all SVXs, etc. etc.) are all ultimately based off that first-generation Legacy.

So your 93 WRX, while 14 years old, is still technically new-gen.

There is a GC8 forum by the way, it's right above the Legacy forum. And you get to brag because you have a REAL GC8. There technically is no such thing as a USDM GC8.

I'm surprised you can't find anything. Like, REALLY surprised. Parts that we would give our left testicles for here in the US are practically thrown away in Japan.

I'll look again, I'm not saying it isn't there, I just didn't see it. Mainland is different, I'm on an island that at least for us Americans is kinda frozen in time. I do have a little older car than most, but a MY2000 car is pretty new on Okinawa. Mods can we get this moved to the correct forum?

Well, I wiggled the oil fill spout and it was loose so that's at least part of the oil on the passenger side valve cover. What looks like a turbo oil return line may be loose too. Does anyone have a link to exploded views of GC8's?
