View Full Version : '01 2.5 RS Mileage Poll
Susie's Suby 07-26-2007, 04:19 PM Wow...this sure is a lonely forum. Anyway, I'm wondering about how the ever-increasing mileage on my 2001 RS 2.5 stacks up with that of other people driving the same model from that year.
Cars were meant to be driven, right?! And my hubby & I will probably be driving this one until it dies, which brings up my poll question:
If you have a stock engine, no turbo or other mods, 2001 RS 2.5 ONLY, what is your mileage? (And, please, God, let it be higher than mine!)
Now, don't everyone jump in at once...
I'll start the ball rolling: my 2001 RS 2.5 passed the 150k mark earlier this month (July 2007).

2005STiGuy 07-27-2007, 07:57 AM I have a '98 RS with 143k miles and still going strong. I've heard of these things lasting well into the 300k range with proper maintenance. 150K on an '01, you really drive that thing.
swede978 07-27-2007, 11:43 AM I have a 99 RS with about 194K with no issues.
rage557 07-27-2007, 12:09 PM Before you ask no I didnt forget a 1 infront of my milage. I have a 01 RS with 45k miles. I bought it last year with 32K on it :). Tis just a baby
HeyChris 07-28-2007, 08:50 PM My daily 01 RS driver has had everything except a swap... and still running strong at 110k miles... blew 2nd, 3rd & 4th gears at 80k... but that's due to daily driving, track days, canyons, auto cross, commuting to work, parking lots and bad porters at either dealership, or valets.... expensive rebuild on the gearbox.. and still runs like a champ. Although the T/O bearing is starting to fail....

bindriftin 09-27-2007, 11:46 AM My 01 RS has about 84k on her, runs perfect.
Susie's Suby 11-08-2007, 10:54 AM I'm fast approaching the big 160K. Just hit 159 and should be well into the 160's by January. I'm almost afraid to say it, but she's still running okay. :alien: (<--I like this one but am never sure what it's supposed to mean.)

HeyChris 11-08-2007, 02:31 PM 123k update.... Starting to drink a little coolant... Think its the lower radiator hose starting to seep... as its 'moist'... near the radiator.
Couldn't hurt to do a flush while I'm changing it...

Susie's Suby 11-18-2007, 10:29 PM The good news: Just passed the 160K mark yesterday. Bad news: The clutch is on its way out! :( It's been slipping occasionally for several months but has recently gotten much worse. I guess maybe 160K isn't bad for the original clutch?
I'll look in other forums but...does anyone has a suggestion for an after-market clutch? We don't need high performance, just decent, affordable & durable. Or should I just get a new OEM clutch?
:sadbanana:
Susie's Suby 02-19-2008, 03:50 PM Well, I just posted in the CEL forum about the 7 (seven!--maybe 1 for each year of age?) codes Lucinda is throwing. This happened precisely at 166166k. Coincidence or did all those 6's get me in trouble??
We finally got a new clutch about 3 weeks ago. She was driving like a dream until today when she started lurching and threatening to stall. Codes say 3 cylinders misfiring. I'm theorizing we also need a new Cat. Anyone else had the you-know-what hit the fan at around 166000?
:(

I win.
Runs just fine, though we had it taken in because it was leaking oil around the head gasket. All better now.
RedHotLama 02-22-2008, 06:40 PM I just ran across this.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/car/582011460.html
01 with 18.5k they want $16k though.
I want but find 18.5k miles hard to believe and i would only offer like 12k.
Subie Gal 02-23-2008, 09:24 AM 01 RS 129k miles....
daily driven and LOVED :D

D'oh.... Headgaskets are a leakin'... I've started to work on building a new N/A motor  And hopefully will have that complete before this one gives up...

ZeroPunk 03-16-2008, 03:13 PM '98 RS
145K miles on it
Still runs perfectly and no leaks! Previous owner did have the headgaskets replaced I believe though due to leak.
