Hey fellow canadians. I may be in the market for a new subaru impreza rs sedan this summer.

I recently visited a subaru dealership and was told that it was 28,100 and change. Then I look on the net and see that MSRP is 26,995 as well as various dealers selling at this price. What's going on here? Are they trying to rape potential buyers at my dealership?

Yes, I know that it is only a starting price but I find it rediculous seeing most other provinces are over $1000 cheaper than where i'm at.

Also, does anyone know how much the invoice is on the RS sedan and coupe? I am looking for some leverage for when I am ready to buy.

An RS invoice is about $23K and change, A fair price to pay for it standard (5 spd, no options except what's already on it) is around $25-26K. They are still making profit and you didn't pay too much.

In toronto, at scarboro sube, They had the coupes going for 26,300 a short while ago.

Did that price include freight & PDI?? That may be the difference.

Be careful though, from my experience with my dealer in Edmonton, they now ALL the tricks in the books to get more money out of ya!!

What I did was join the APA http://www.apa.ca and they gave me the dealer invoice price, markup, fees and taxes. They can also get you a good price on the car through their car buying service and/or send you to a recommended dealer.

Check it out, membership costs around $55 ($59 in Quebec). At least you'll know exactly what the dealer is making...without getting ripped off.

There's also http://www.carcostcanada.com/. They have a similiar service but without the other stuff that the APA gives you. I think its like $20 dollars to get the "real" price of the car.
