I'm installing Hella 500's and Hella Supertones this week.
I've been reading how to install guides and DIY guides as well. Most of them talk about running an inline fuse from the positive battery. Most of them, however, do not mention what kind of fuse and how many amps I should get.
How many amps should I be looking for? I'm installing the Hella fog lights and the Hella horns. I'm going to have 2 separate ones of course.
Thanks

hella wiring kits come with a 15 amp fuse for a pair of 55w bulbs. Each 55w bulb pulls about 5 amps and a 15 amp fuse for 2 lights gives a little bit of cushion.
... not positive about the hella horns, but horns are generally 20 amp fuses. Maybe someone who has them can chime in here that knows for sure

Thanks! So for the Hella fogs, should I still run an inline fuse from the positive 12v? Or will the built in fuse be sufficient?
And I accidentally bought the glass tube fuses with inline holder instead of the automotive fuses ("blade" type). Will those glass ones be OK or will they break under certain conditions?

the glass fuse / inline holder is common for auto use and is surprising durable. If it breaks, there's going to be a lot of broken car around it ;)
When hooking up a new positive wire directly to the battery, it's always a good idea to fuse the new line a few inches away from the battery. That way the entire new line and everything behind it is protected.
