I've got Catz dual beam H4 5500k kit, which've been serving me for about 4 or even 5 years, and today the passenger side suddenly became violet instead of white.... now it looks more like 6-8000 Kelvin bulb hence not efficient at all at doing it's job

I recall driving in deep puddles earlier the day, could this be of any effect on the ballast/igniter/bulb? I have everything well hidden and it's protected from water, besides the kit itself has good isolation

or does the changing color indicate the wear on the bulb and I just need a new one? It's easy to tell with halogens, because they just stop working in such cases :p

You can swap the bulbs side-to-side to confirm whether it's the bulb or ballast, but generally a color shift in the bulb means it's shot.

Def sounds like the bulb is on it's final breaths to me. HiD bulbs do that.
