So yeah I am a vendor now, starting out a budding business. I carry all the usual stuff, the big names, cobb, txs, tein, heck you name it, I likely carry it.
In any case, if you want to support a local guy at the absolute ground level of the vendor game, I am here.

should have the S/N VendorNow....it's appropriate :D

Defiant Autospeed
08-19-2007, 06:51 PM
My website is currently not built. I dont have the skillz (y0) to build it myself in anything resembling a professional way, and I havent made enough money yet to pay someone to do it.

If offer to trade someone some parts to do it, but I still have to PAY for those parts.

TJ, what do you want? Name it, Ill see what I can do. I carry a TON of brands, and I have like 6 sources, so there isnt much I cant get.
Being that I am not direct, I cant always beat the big guys prices, but sometimes I can, if only by a little. I can almost always match them at least.

The hardest part is when you are starting out, things go SO slow because people dont like to buy from a new not established vendor. And Ebay wont let me post buy it now auctions till I have 10 feedback, which essentially makes it impossible to sell things on ebay for now. I bought a V1 and am selling the clock from my WRX (people actually buy them, up to 50 bucks!!!)
so that will help.

The up side is most of the vendors I spoke to said to expect to only sell like 1 thing a week in the beginning, I have 3 sales under my belt with at least 2 pending right now, and its only been a week and a half that I have been doing this officially. (about that anyway). So things look good. It just stinks that it will take probably 6 months till I am making anything like a liveable wage from this.

Sweet. How much for an SPT heat shield and how local are you from Houston?

Defiant Autospeed
08-19-2007, 10:16 PM
Im in Austin, and SPT stuff is going to be the same as the dealer unfortunately, because the only way to get it, is from the dealer. I get it a bit cheaper, but not anywhere near as cheap as the dealers do. If you want the best deal you can get on SPT stuff, you are best off hitting up Subie Gal or one of the dealership vendors here.

Sorry man, wish I could be of more help there.

Defiant Autospeed

All online for the time being. I am going to move towards that later, but that will probably take like a year.

PM me a price with shipping. Also can you get any gauge mounting accessories as I am looking for a clock mount gauge pod that is not the typical TSUNAMI WAVE format but instead the simple more stock looking format.

Defiant Autospeed
08-24-2007, 07:37 PM
No on the AMsoil :(
No on the hangover (strangely enough)

Business isnt booming, but its picking up slightly. Most vendors told me to expect 1 sale a week for like the first 2 months. I am at like 6 sales in 2 weeks, so thats a good sign I think.

Mighty, I deal with AEM, TXS and I cant think of who else for a wideband.
You just missed out on buying my LC-1/XD-16 setup by about a week though

BTW, PM me guys!

I didnt see the replies to this thread.
ANyone that asked for prices, I will get them to you by tomorrow afternoon. Or at least send you a PM to establish a dialog.

I made the slightly scary move of quitting my job today (last day is monday). Although it was a GARBAGE pay part time job, it was enough to make car payments. SO its a scary move, but one that I had to make in order to give my customers (and potential customers) the service level I want to give (killer)

You can get DBA if you set-up directly with them or get a tirerack wholesale account. Samco you can get with most vendors like Rally Sport Direct, but watchout for them if you go direct. They have a bad habit of sending the wrong parts.

Defiant Autospeed

You're not responding to my PM, so... Where's the flywheel that you said should have been here late last week or early this week? No tracking number?

I did respond, I told you Fidanza was drop shipping it to me, and that it was supposed to happen thursday. I 99% chance wont ever get a tracking number, only confirmation that it actually shipped. Which sucks but its the best any of the 5 different suppliers I went through can do. NO ONE had it in stock, I tried. I even looked for it retail just to buy it and GIVE it to you at zero profit (not like I am making any real profit on it anyway, I try to give locals as sweet of a deal as I can) and I couldnt find one short of Ebay.

Dude you dont even want to know what I have been going through to try to get this flywheel and clutch. I FINALLY got a solid answer today (like an hour ago actually) and the deal is that ACT is out of stock on that clutch, I tried 5 different people, and even working with Lee at worldone, he tried a bunch of people, and no one has this clutch. And ACT wont even be building one for 2-3 more weeks (I dont remember which he said).

I have no idea why an 04 IS300 is so damned hard to find parts for:huh: Its crazy, NO ONE has a clutch or flywheel for this thing. I want to help you but honestly had I known what a huge pain it was going to be to even FIND the stuff, I would have told you up front that it was going to take forever.

*edit*
Wait are you talking about the PM from about 5pm yesterday? yeah I didnt respond to that one yet, I was actually sitting down to knock out that response here when I came into this thread to check for any new messages. I only got the final word on that clutch about 2 1/2 hours ago, I spent about 4 hours today trying to locate one with no luck :(

prototypeWRX

Defiant Autospeed

I appreciate that^, and I guess I'll look for a different clutch. But where is the flywheel..? ;)

The flywheel will be in the paper when it lands on my head and kills me

I will make a couple calls on another clutch and see what I can come up with. I had thought about that, but you are a pretty "I know exactly what part and version of that part that I want" kind of guy, so I figured you had some pretty solid reasons why you wanted that specific clutch, so I concentrated my efforts on that one. I honestly figured that you would rather wait a while longer if it meant getting the exact one. I also didnt make any suggestions because I know ACT is good, and I know Exedy is good but I know little about what is good on an IS300.

So the flywheel is still at Fidanza:rolleyes: (why do they only ship on thursdays????? Can anyone tell me that?? ) And will be shipping tomorrow (thursday), its coming directly to me, and I am 99.9999% sure I wont have anything more than solid confirmation that it has shipped. I dont see it taking longer than mid/end of next week even if they ship it on the back of a donkey. I will be making calls on that tomorrow, and I will see what else I have access to for a clutch.

PM coming your way (everyone) :)

Jman,
Honestly I dont have a good kartboy source right now, so my prices cant really be competative. I have (in my personal purchases) always had great luck ordering direct from kartboy though. I am desperately seeking one, for Samco as well. But thusfar my only sources for either dont give me good enough wholesale pricing that I cant even sell for retail on kartboy stuff (litterally, if retail is 35 bucks, I pay 34.95).

I have pretty much everything, but those 2, which unfortunately are 2 of the biggest things I want to sell, I just cant seem to get a good supplier :( Which stinks because that means even I cant get a good deal for them for myself , let alone the customers I am letting down.

it just bums me out. But I am working on it. If I had about 10 grand for buy-ins I could get good deals direct from them. I just am not there yet financially.

Austin is pretty happening. I love having a couple beers and listening to live music, so 6th street is a really good time for me provided that I avoid the more "style guy" kinds of bars.
I was there in early 02. In December. Xmas festivals in small walled cities FTW. Rotenburg was awesome. Hey Dave,

I just found out that my Noltec camber/caster plates are about fail catastrophically.

What do you have/sugest as replacements? I will eventually have to move up to coilovers. Can I get something now that will work with coilovers later? (I have not settled on a coilovers setup.)

Also, can you get Cusco solid engine and tranny mounts?

Well, I can get you another set of Noltecs I know that much, I think whiteline makes a set and my whiteline prices are pretty killer so let me make a call or two and see what I can find out.:)
As for what will or wont work with coilovers, Short of build it yourself coilovers like Koni inserts/Ground control sleeves (which is an AWESOME setup BTW, better than a lot of the aftermarket "real" coilovers) or something like Tein Basics or SS's, then I really dont know.

If you want to go to a TEIN basic or SS, then you can use any top that works with stock struts I think (99% sure), as those are meant to use the stock tops.

I can get the DP easy, the APS intake will be tough, my main supplier is out of stock on them, and they come from Austrailia, so its going to be a good month easily till they are back in stock.

HOWEVER I do deal with a couple other suppliers, so let me see what I can dig up.

You dont want the megan gaskets. I just had to go to Sideways to replace Daves gaskets because the megan gaskets lasted all of ONE week.

Use OEM gaskets. In fact, for the downpipe, just re-use the stock ones. I have re-used the turbo to downpipe gasket like 10+times over on multiple cars and have yet to see one leak.

Ill call you tomorrow about the downpipe :)

I Just got off the phone with about the 4th person I have asked.

Basically what I have that I KNOW I can get, are the Cusco top plates. Says they work with OEM shafts and non progressive springs. I havent been able to confirm 100% that they work with OEM springs. I have put it out there to a bunch of people and no one has been able to tell me for sure. I hate to sell them to you and have them not work, BUT, I havent seen any evidence that they dont work with OEM springs, as I would think it would say somewhere if they didnt, and I am pretty sure I have seen people run them with the OEM springs.

Whiteline appears to only make a front camber plate, but its a good bit more money.

In any case they are in stock. Ill shoot you a PM with the pricing.

Oh and get ready in the next two weeks or so (prolly a month) for a huge group buy on DW 750's or possibly 650's. There will be probably at least 10-15 people who need those and a walboro just to start off with.

I have 9 walbro pumps in stock, and I can have as many more as I need within 5-6 days time if I know ahead of time, so let me know.

I THINK I can get my hands on an APS 65mm. The problem is that most people are out of stock on them and they will take a long time getting here on a boat then sitting in customs... Want me to call around?

Honestly, I saw no real solid evidence in IAT or IAM or maf voltage that there was any performance difference between the SPT (which would be identical to the K&N performance wise) and my APS 65mm.

Oh and welcome to why Vivid isnt a nasioc vendor anymore

Buy my stuff lol, I am planning out a motor build  Nothing huge, pistons/rods and maybe valve springs/retainers. I figure do it now while the block is known solid ya know?
I just dont want to have to worry about it anymore, and I LOVE the way a forged internals motor just revs and revs and revs. With the light internals, way balanced rods and valve springs/retainers I can spin 8k no problem (not that I am planning to do that for now, but I could if I wanted to, and a 7500rpm redline at SAR would really be nice especially once I do my 18" tires, which will be a touch smaller diameter, the 300RPM redline increase will put shift points back where they are now (approx) and if I spin it to 8k... That alone is an ET decrease.

My 750 DW are on the way as well

APS stuff is great but overpriced. I guess I'll have to get their front mount after seeing it on your car as I am getting the intake. It looks sweet, that red piping does especially and the fit is perfect.

Plus I have the SPT catback now that just needs to be modified by Midas back from Dave's hacks. It is 3 inch piping.

Defiant Autospeed
01-01-2008, 01:14 PM
Yeah some of the APS stuff is great and totally worth the money, their intakes are the best out there, their BOVs actually hold boost, and some of their other stuff is REALLLLLLY nice, but not really worth the extra $$$. A lot of it, while its very good, just isnt what I would call "good bang for the buck" as it costs so much more and doesnt DO so much more.

That said, you absolutely cant go wrong with APS parts, you are just going to pay more for it that you probably need to in order to reach a given performance level.

I will Chris. I asked for you when I ordered it, but you were on vacation. The intake arrived only 2 days late (you guys actaully ended up overnighting another one (thanks btw!)) as the problem was with DHL. No biggie. Dave was honest when I tried to go through him and told me his supplier could not get the intake until February or something like that. Vivid really pissed me off because they said they had it in stock at their "warehouse" and I would get it way before xmas. Finally after calling Vivid 10 times or so (and 3 weeks later), they admitted their supplier was out of them. I immediatley thought of you guys and called. You had 5 in stock so I ordered one. I am glad I did, it was only a little late. Next time I will ask for ya. I did tell whoever I was talking to when I placed the order to say hi to you for me. ;)

Depends which way you go, I have SMC kits and I am now a Snow Performance dealer as well. The snow "stage 2" kits are 400 bucks, they come with no tank, I can get you one, or you can use whatever you want. But as they are a "piece by piece" style kit, they are a bit more "flexible" as far as installation options.

The SMC kits, since you are local you are looking at 475, but the install is easier and you get a full stainless braided line. Those are available in either the underhood washer tank kit, or the universal mount kit.

Which is better? All depends what you want to do. They are both progressive controller kits, performance wise will be the same.

I JUST (a few hours ago) got my comp fully back up and running after the second mobo swap in 2 days:mad: I ended up having to reinstall windows/everything this time. My extra parts from snow arrive today.:banana::banana:

I am tempted to install with the current controller instead of waiting for the safeinjection and new controller first. ;)

Knowing me I will prolly wait and try to sell the extra controller that came with the kit as I have not opened it yet.

Do it. Its fine man, the chances of a failure are INCREDIBLY minute (sp?) and even if you do have an issue, if you tune it right you stand very little chance of actually doing any damage. Its only the most ragged edge tunes(like my personal vehicles) are insta-blow. Even then, its not a 100% certainty it would pop.

Dave,

I need silicon IC hoses (turbo to y pipe and IC to TB) and T-bolt clamps. Since I over filled (because of the misterious quart hidden in my engine somewhere) and the fact that I am peaking at 20 PSI now, the turbo to IC hose keeps coming loose. Plus, I have had to reclamp it so damn often that now it is chewed up a bit. Can you gets the parts?

gabedude

Ok so I need 2 of these:

http://www.partssystems.com/shop/productdetail.html?product_id=BR-TB%20200&c=TBOLT

And two of these:

http://www.partssystems.com/shop/productdetail.html?product_id=BR-TB%20300&c=TBOLT

And this:

http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/samco-sti-intercooler-hose-kit-p-2469.html

Or this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gruppe-S-intercooler-hose-kit-WRX-STI-IMPREZA_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33558QQihZ010QQ itemZ200195305832QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I really only need the two IC hoses and tbolt clamps.

Whatcha think Dave, you hav the hookup on some IC hoses and clamps? 20PSI + oil overfill = turbo hose getting loose often. ;)

gabedude
01-30-2008, 12:12 PM
Ok I ordered the clamps. I should replace the turbo to IC hose and the IC to TB hose. Do you have a supplier for these Dave?

All I want is the 90* elbow and the TB to IC hose.

Also, Hondaslayer never got back to me about a rear 06-07 STI stock diffuser.

Just got off the phone with Snow, to answer your questions.

1-3 weeks for the safeinjection and the new controller. I guess they are changing a couple things about them.
Pump can run anything. straight water, straight ethanol, straight isopropyl, straight methanold, 50/50 mix of any of the above. You can even run straight windsheild washer fluid (which is basically 70/30 water/methanol in most cases)

Bobby, you can get a 10 dollar discount through the romraider site by entering the "enginuity" discount code. I dunno if Dave can get it cheaper than that.

Also, you may want to look into the DB gauges instead of the XD16. It is only 289 for that kit with the discount. The XD16 is P&P is all, the DB gauges you wire in.

The LC1 + DB gauge is quality. The difference is that the DB gauge runs off of one of the LC1 output wires and not one of the plugs. Also the XD16 gauge has the recalibrate button built in, so you don't have to do much wiring. I don't mind wiring (solder and heatshrink FTW!), so I just got the DB gauge and I wired in the recalibrate button and LED and hid it under the dash.

I wasnt talking about the other innovative stuff, I was talking about the AEM UEGO.

The AEM in tests is not as good as the Innovate. Innovate has the best reviews because you can do a free air calibration as the sensor wears out. Everyone I know uses Innovate for perm installs. The AEM UEGO is not fully supported yet in enginuity (romraider now), so when tuning, you would have to tune fuel completely seperate from the other variables which is a PITA.

Yeah get the airlink one and a TT harness. I'll halp ya wire it up, I have all the tools. Get the bung welded in though (unless your D/P has an extra bung). I'll add a connector for the DB gauge so you can just pop it in and plug it in (this is what I did for easy install of gauges, they all run off of the TT harness that has extra wires with leads and heat shrinked spade connectors that I added for gauge additions). ;)

Mine doesnt have a fail safe, SMC doesnt have one available at the moment. Really if your tune is set up correctly you will most likely be able to withstand an injection failure. I know that I have run out of mix at full boost, as well as a couple friends of mine and none of us have lost the motor when it happened (learn from our mistakes, watch your fluid level lol)

I dont have an SMC kit in stock at the moment, I can get one though.
I DO have a Snow Performance stage 2 kit in stock. This is a universal mount setup, and its a good bit cheaper. Snow also has a failsafe in production that should be available within a month or so. That kit runs $420. It doesnt come with a tank, but you can get that from US Plastics for dirt cheap. I believe the tank that the SMC kit uses is about $17 shipped or something like that. I know its real cheap. The nice thing is you can pick whatever size/shape you want. It can also be stealthier as you can hide the pump etc.

I put my tank in the drivers side rear corner over the factory sub. I removed the sub and put a carpeted board over that panel, then screwed the tank to it. Its ROCK solid and out of the way back there. Easy to get to and fill as well.

8000rpm redline as well I assume? That block can handle it no problem.

850 side feeds is the biggest I can get. If you need larger you would have to convert to top feed (rails/TGV housings) and I can get 1100cc injects.

For your HP level 850s should be fine, especially with the meth injection.

My monster. Im looking for 520-530 on race gas. I wont be able to turn it up that high till I do a transmission though. I am hoping for about 350whp daily driver, 400whp more "fun" map in the meanwhile. It wont be even remotely a problem hitting those numbers. The bigger problem will be holding the daily driver map back. Even at 12.2PSI (my WG boost) I will be flowing massive air. I guess nuke the timing and run rich.
