As found on Craigslist: NOT MINE!

Subaru WRX STI (almost but not quite) - $1500
http://anchorage.craigslist.org/car/404242624.html

This is a 1986 Subaru station wagon that I modified with a 2.5 motor out of a 1999 Forester. I put heads, intake, turbo, and wiring harness and brain from a 1992 Turbo legacy 2.2 onto a 2.5 out of a forester and then made the whole thing fit into my 1986 Subaru station wagon. This car has about 220 horsepower and gobs of torque.

Very impressive. Makes you wonder how long the clutch, tranny and drivetrain will last...

Very impressive. Makes you wonder how long the clutch, tranny and drivetrain will last...Considering the rust, it's in a race with the body.

I went and met the guy at UAA. He used to work at AAA-1 back when they were in the old shop. He cut the bellhousing off of a newer tranny and welded it to the gl tranny, so he could still switch in and out of 4wd. He told me that for 1500, it comes with a gl-10 wagon that blew a headgasket, or cracked a head, but the body is in awesome shape, and they are both 5-speed manuals. the install looks pretty clean except for some oil that blew outta the drivers side pcv tube, because he just had a breather on it, now its connected to the system. I want it, but I need a DD before I can buy another project.
