I've been thinking of putting an 06 STI exhaust on my 07 2.5i. I know a guy that I can pick one up from for $250 which is a deal and a half. I already know I'd have to weld a reducer on the pipe to get it to fit. I just want to know if it would be a good idea or not. And if it would either benefit my car aside from making it sound beastly or have negative repercussions.

for that much money you could get a catback exhaust made for your car. You can even get the SPT exhaust for that much. There isnt a need for the STI exhaust on your car anyway, if anything just get the axleback from a wrx or sti and it will be a much easier and cheaper change with the same result.

wouldn't the axel back exhaust from a wrx or sti.. still need a reducer to fit the 2.5i.. being that they are turbo'ed so its a 3" pipe. ??

from what i read here, STi axleback is a direct bolt on for the 2.5i.

p.s. What kind of color is Nautilus Blue, i thought that only Newport was available on the 07's

you also need to lengthen the midpipe to put it on because of the new cat design. the new cats are shorter than previous models. your best bet would be to find an aftermarket made for your car or do the axle back. the sti axle back is larger diameter than the wrx.

yeah, thats a ripoff, dont buy that. You can find a cheaper one elsewhere. But a wrx axleback would be your best bet. I have a 02 or 04 wrx axleback on my 93 L

I paid 20 for that, and 40 to have a flange chopped off and rewelded (rotated). Yours should be a direct fit though

I recently got an 07 STi axle-back on my 07 2.5i. It was a direct bolt on replacement. 10 minutes start to finish w/out jacking the car up. Just crawled under:) It made a small difference noise wise, still quite quiet which is what i wanted. Noticed a small difference in power but that might just be the placebo effect:D Got it used of another local NASIOC member for $70. All in all it's not going to change much for you but anything looks better than the stock "pea-shooter" on our 2.5i's. Sounds like you might want to search for one cheaper, they are usually between 100-125 if they are near perfect. I just got lucky and found a good deal from a fellow member.

Hope this helps. GL

Shouldn't pay more than $100 for an STi exhaust. That is the going rate. Yes it bolts up perfectly.

what about for a wgon? I have an 07 2.5I wagon and I want to upgrade the stock pea shooter, but NOT go aftermarket. Will the exhausts from sedans fit as well or am I stuck with finding a wrx wagon exhaust???

04-07 STi axlebacks -> straight bolt-on onto 06-07 2.5i's without any modifications?
