i saw a Red WRX when i was in Fairbanks a couple months ago. I never knew they came in red:confused: looked nice. How do your subies do in the very cold weather up there?

Excellent idea for going out the night before. How about the other Fairbanks subies? A red WRX would be pretty cool to see. I haven't seen one yet.

It does not look like I will be able to make the drive down for the Suby meet on the 27th due to work obligations. Major bummer. I was hoping to squeeze in some ice climbing and/or paragliding too.

To the Anchorage Contingent: Perhaps in the future, meetings can be scheduled on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning to accomodate the requisite 5 to 8 hour drive (depending on weather, moose, and drunk drivers) suffered by the Fairbanks folks.

Just a thought.

fishbulb - just do that stuff some other time...how often is there going to be a subie meeting of this proportion? you'll be missing out on one of the biggest ak subie meetings of all time! but i do agree that the drive from fairbanks is lame...been there done that! :)

I will definately take the Fairbanks guys into consideration. Usually when I pick a date, I narrow it down then leave it up to everyone else to let me know what day is better for the majority of them. But this summer we will have some on Saturdays to correspond with Auto-X's. So hopefully we will see you at one of the future meetings.

One of these meets have somewhere inbetween, like Denali or Talkeetna. Can you imagine what the people would think of if ~40+ Subarus came cruising into town. :lol: :lol:

I would like to have a cruise to Fairbanks or somewhere a ways out of Anchorage. I would also love to drag my jet-ski along, as long as a local Fairbanks person could point me in the direction of a good lake. But we can discuss that as summer gets closer.

Oh BTW, we are all staying at Fishbulb and Yukon1's house....:lol:

Fishbulb: Sorry, for the Sunday meet. It is hard to accomodate everyones schedule but you are right. I should have just had this meet on Saturday because I did know that there was a possibility of Fairbanks visitors. Usually, my day of rest and recovery is Sunday.

AkSubie: I'm down for a drive anywhere. Hopefully, we can stop in Talkeetna to have some pizza.

Geez, thanks for all the positive responses. And I, too, think it would be a blast to meet at some intermediate point; Talkeetna, Cantwell, Denali, Healy, etc. As you probably already know, the SCCA will occasionally run an Auto-X in Nenana.

In the summer, the Parks Highway simply becomes a sea of rolling pylons: RVs filled with ancient tourons (you know, tourist+moron= touron), none of whom belong behind the wheel of a automobile, let alone a 40' land yacht. It can be an entertaining challenge to negotiate the pylons in a safe but expeditious manner.

And how about a Rally-X? Auto-X's are fine, but am I the only one interested in playing in the dirt? Just curious....

The SCCA has ben trying to organize a Rally-X for awhile. The past attempt fell through, but hopefully this spring we will be successful. Of course I would have prefered to have a Subaru at the time, but I will see how the Honda would do!:cool:

For the Rally-X, any good locations? how about a Snow Rally-X:lol: only have a few corners too drift around on my way too work. this summer cache creek road or rosey creek area might be a good Rally spot, just have too avoid the logging trucks.
