hey guys. im having a weird issue with my aftermarket hid set up in my 02 wrx. First off, i have my DRL module removed. the hids turn on when my e-brake is disengaged no matter what the headlight/parking light switch position is. its really annoying me!!!

the ballasts are hooked up with a relay. the relay is powered directly from the battery, directly grounded to the chassis, has input from the low beam spade in the headlight connector, and switched output to the ballast.

the hid bulbs have a small halogen highbeam bulb as well, and i have a relay set up for them as well. it is hooked up the same way as the ballasts. i am getting NO power to the highbeams at all.

im thiking there is some kind of weird loop of power getting through to the ballasts some how??? i dont know? my father and i are pretty good at electrical stuff and we are totally stumped here! please help!

You didn't fully disable the DRLs, obviously you just unplugged the resistor on the strut tower. To fully disable them you have to unplug the DRL control module inside the car next to the glovebox.

really? even though the drls dont come on with regular 9007 bulbs?

Yes, because when you install HIDs they have an alternate grounding path. All you did when you unplugged the resistor is remove the DRL switched ground for the factory lights. The DRL system is still active and applying power to the lights unless you unplug the control module.
