Well ran into a financial pinch right now and not sure if this is worth it.
I have a set of 06 headlights blacked out with TSX projectors in them and 4300k bulbs sitting at my house. All I really need are ballasts and I can install them. A friend was supposed to give me the ballasts but it looks like he fell thru and now I am kind of screwed. I know I can get a set for around $200 (OEM) but I don't know if it is worth it.
So I ask:
1.) If I decided to sell these lights without the ballasts, how much could I expect to get for them?
2.) If I go ahead and install these things, how much could I get for my stock 07 headlights?
Now I know stuff like this is only worth what someone is willing to pay, but I just need some ballpark figures for when I throw up a f/s ad.
And if i decide to get ballasts, is there THAT much of a difference between OEM and ebay.

which do you need more of? money or lights?
i would say get the ballasts and install the lights. and sell your stockers. you usually can get around 200-300 bucks for stock lights.
for your retrofited ones, maybe 500-600 bucks if you sold them (with ballasts)

So it's only $200 more for the retrofit? With ballasts that cost $200 by themself? Lame. Just noticing most charge more than that for the retrofitting/projectors/ballasts and you have to send them your lights

Get the nissan OEM ballasts (they're gray / round) which screw perfectly into the bottom of the headlights. Make sure you buy a set that COMES with the ballast plugs. They're around, just be patient. Shop on Ebay for these!
You'll need to cutout the bottom of each headlight in order to install them. So, be sure it's all taken appart so you can do a good cleanup afterwards. Then re-install all the internals, and screw the ballast to the bottom. A dremel is your best friend here.
You'll also need to order 2 o-rings that seals the ballast. They're available from subarugenuineparts.com from the 04-05 STI's. I think 5-10$ a piece or so.
Fun job.. I'd keep that setup if I was you. I LOVE mine.

Do the retrofit and buy the OEM ballasts because thats the way to go on the 04-07 lights.
The TSX is such a large improvement at this point its not worth you selling your lights. If you need a set of ballasts I can have them shipped out in the morning.
Then sell your stock lights to offset the costs.
Perhaps we can do a trade :) I need a set of 06-07 lights anyways..
