Trying to figure out what the pressure solenoid sensor does and if it's necessary for proper engine function,

Preparing a wiring harness for a 1999 DOHC EJ25 which will go into a VW Vanagon...and need to know if the wires to the pressure solenoid sensor are needed or can be cut out.

I think you're thinking of the "purge control" ......different item.
