Good support, always available. (No life) ;)
Prices are fair.

I give two very enthusiastic thumbs up for Mr. Kartboy!! I bought a shifter for my 2.5RS, and then another one for my WRX, and I have refered two friends who both got them as well. Everyone was very happy. I had also purchased a SAFC Carbon fiber trim but needed to return it cause I sold the car one day after I ordered it and Tom was awesome about the return. I sent him back the merchandise and I was credited immediately.

I am one very happy customer. :)

He takes care of his customers! I ordered a shifter and bushings for my WRX. Well they ran out of bushings so he left a nice little note in the box explaining why. Well when they finally came from the vendor he ship me a set but they never arrived so I told him and he promtly shipped me another set, no questions asked!! He said if these get lost he would hand-deliver them!! :D

I love the shifter!!!!

THANKS KARTBOY!!

I just got my Kartboy short shifter yesterday and installed it!
From a customer service point of view, the Kartboys are top notch, very quick response and good insight into their products.
The bushing were not instock, so I haven't received them yet! The shifter is sweet, although, the movement seems kinda rough, maybe I should give it a few days, I know the shifting will be tighter which, I like, but not as smooth as I would like, maybe it needs more grease on the ball or needs to break in??

I bought my shifter, and bushings from Kartboy over a year ago. And was very happy with the quality of the products. But last month I ordered the carbon fibre AFC mount, and when it first showed up it looked real good. Last week I put it in my car, and it is crooked. It looks like crap!!!
To top it all off I e-mailed Tom to tell him about my disapointment, and he has still not gotten back to me. Which is funny because when you want to buy something he gets back to you the next day to take your money.

Don't get me wrong, I do not hate Kartboy or anything, I am just a little pissed because this product did not live up to what I thought it would.

We spend more time emailing people back about what intake system or brake upgrade kit to buy than selling our own parts. I think it's unfair to imply that we only want your money, and I think the previous posts would indicate otherwise. If we really wanted to make money, we could just talk to wholesale distributors and drop ship parts, making money and never touching them. We design and touch every part we sell.

Got the PIAA light brackets... My only comment was like they are a bit of over engineered at 1/4" thick, but you don't hear me complaining about my Hella 500s vibrating or anything.

Would I pay the $45 shipped for the brackets again? Yup, they fit perfectly which makes them worth the money. And they are even nice enough to paint them black.

Oh, if you would like to sell more of the brackets, you'll want to indicate that Hella 500s fit perfectly.

Back when Kartboy first starting selling Subaru parts, a lot of their customers would get a piece of candy called a RedHot along with their Kartboy shifters or bushings.

Well, a long time later, I finally decided to place an order for some droplink inserts from Kartboy, and got them just fine a week later. But I was very dissapointed to find that my package didn't include a Red-Hot hard candy like all of Kartboy's earlier customers did. I've never seen or eaten one before and I was anxiously awaiting my package to find out what the heck a RedHot was. Boy was I dissapointed when I didn't get one. :( I didn't eat or sleep well knowing that Kartboy had left me out of the RedHot Culinary Society. I searched and searched that little 4"x6" envelope looking for any hidden nooks and crannies that the RedHot might have gotten stuck in, but couldn't find it. I was so sad that I moped around the house for days until I finally got around to installing the droplink inserts.

But well, the droplink inserts worked great and I no longer have to run aggressive alignment settings to get my car to turn in sooner, so I guess I was partly mollified. ;)

I am happy to say that I have Kartboy products on my turbocharged 2.5RS. I've gotten used to having to do a lot of tweaking to get aftermarket parts to fit on my car, especially since I run a custom turbo kit, but the Kartboy parts just dropped right in. Kudos to them.

I am very happy with their products and their service! :)

Put in the shifter bushings a week ago, they made an amazing difference in the feel. Ended up with the WRX version of the short shifter. Got the replacement and installed it this weekend. Didn’t think it could get better until I installed the shifter. Not sure how I managed to go without one for so long! :p

Mark and Tom were great about the mistake. They were quick to send the replacement out. :)

Please excuse us, if we have already posted here. We just want to add that Mark & Tom are also very generous and have helped us a great deal with our Red Cross donation, by offering to match funds with us at the end of the month ... the KartBoys always sell well, because they are high quality and reasonably priced! Mark and Tom have also been great about getting us more when we were running low -- we so appreciate working with such quality
people!!!

Found out that Mark was local and asked him how hard it was to install and he said to bring it over, it'll only take a half hour or so. Great way to start the mods, shifter and bushings ! Nice and tight ! Can't get better customer service than having the man install it himself, great guy too. I can see i am little late to vote, but i can still state my oppinion.

Kartboy rule :) i ordered a shifter and a set of brushings, i got the shifter within a week, but brushings were on back order, then when they got sent out, they got lost in the mail and came back. I was not worried one bit, cause through out the entire transaction I kept getting updates from them.

Also, i noticed that some one stated that they were only out for your money, i belive it was Tom who wrote a 2 page letter trying to talk me out of buying their end links :D

Thanx

Keep making good parts, and we'll keep buying them.

I had bought a set of the rear endlinks a while back off ebay. They were clunking pretty bad so they took them back and modified them to stop the clunking for free.

I placed my order on a weekend and got a response very promptly from him within 12 hours I think. I am VERY impressed with his service and the quality of his products. I wish there would be something else that he could sell with the same quality that goes into his products.

Now I won't get into the packaging used for my shifter and bushings.. It was safe and secure but really ghetto. Are you running this shop out of your home? I think the paper towel/napkin that wrapped the shifter was the give away.

More solid (bushing) with a shorter throw (stick). Get both the bushing and the stick, you won't regret it. It doesn't do anything for performance, but it makes me love the car so much more. I can literally do the 1 to 2 shift by flicking my middle finger back.

There always seems to be at least one skunk at the picnic. We typically don't make special deals for people who know someone who knows someone who got a special price on something at sometime. Mr Elm wrote that he sent us an email (which we couldn't find) asking about something, but later sent a PM saying that he found out what he was asking about, but wanted a special price. Since he said we gave a special price to someone we have never heard of, we assumed he was making it up, and ignored it. We give special deals to racers and our dealers who promote our product, not to people who bad mouth us. We have a long list of satisfied cutomers. All information on our product is listed on our site, or here. Our pricing in set to allow our dealers to compete fairly, we will not undercut them, and the should not undercut each other. Problem customers are best sent to other products. Thanks to our mole for showing us this thread.

Here's my rant
I've been waiting for Kartboy Kustoms to call, email, messenger pigeon, smoke signal, or candy gram me for six months now!!! I'm sick and tired of waiting for these slackers to respond to my telepathic signals. I'm starting to think my tinfoil hat is broken, no matter how hard I try to send a message out, they don't respond. Now it looks like I'll have to obtain a special dialing want so I can call them on the phone since my fingers are too fat to punch the numbers! I hate you Kartboy! Why don't you anticipate my every need?

Granted, I hyperbolized a bit, but do you see how silly you sound? These guys do have jobs you know, there are some people in this world that have jobs that don't revolve around computer access.

Probably my favorite vendor to deal with yet. Received my shifter mere days after ordering. And now I'm a repeat customer and just received my rear end links which I ordered on Friday of Memorial Day weekend. (Today is Tuesday) Not too shabby! (Oh, and I got jawbreakers. Mmm.)

I love Kartboy so much! I ordered my shifter, bushings, and knob on Saturday and recieved it the next Wednesday. I live in WV and they're based in CA so that's a very good turnaround. They also sent me a hat and 3 dum dums which was a great surprise. Better yet, the shifter is awesome and really makes the RS more enjoyable to drive.

The support over at Kartboy is great. I goofed up an install that involved a product of theirs and Tom went way out of the way to help me correct the situation.

After several e-mail volleys back and forth within an (1) hour Tom not only diagnosed the problem, but shipped out what I needed to correct the problem. This was all done late in the day on a Friday.

Thanks,

I ordered the shifter/knob/bushings combo. After about a week, I hadn't recieved it, so I sent an e-mail.

They responded right away. I guess they forgot to ship my order (mistakes happen). They went above and beyond my expectations to rectify the situation.

I won't hesitate to do business with them in the future.

Having issues with the tranny after taking it to Irvine Subaru for a replacement 5th synchro. Irvine said it may be the shifter, so I emailed Kartboy about it. Without a second thought, they said I could take it to their shop for inspection.

They checked it out and noticed some peculiar plier marks on the shift linkage. They took out the Kartboy bushings themselves and put the stock ones back in. With everything stock (shifter and bushings), my shifting problems still exist. Guess I'll be calling Irvine tomorrow about it. :(

Tom and Mark get a big thumbs up! They even gave me a shirt! Free advertising was never deserved more!

Thanks guys!

I ordered my shifter and bushings last Weds on the Kartboy website. I didn't realize that they were located an hour south of me when I requested two day shipping. The box was at my house on Sat. morning with some left overcash for shipping and a nice T-shirt to boot. Also, Mark e-mailed me twice regarding the proximity in shipping. I was also stoked on the detailed installation pics and instructions on thier website. As far as the product is concerned, I couldn't ask for more. The shifter and bushings RAWK!!! tight and smooth.

Working for a manufacturer, I know and appreciate the value of customer service. It's all about exceeding the customer's expectations. Tom and Mark are top notch. I highly suggest Kartboy to everyone looking for an awesome short shift kit. Worth every penny I spent.

Thanks Kartboy!!

I have been around here for a long time now. I met Tom several years ago with my first subaru (2000 RS). Over the years I have tried many of his fine products only to have them perform trouble free, flawlessly as advertised, every time.

But it is what they do beyond the call of duty at Kartboy that makes them one of the premier places to buy parts anywhere. Recently I improperly torqued a set Kartboy endlinks on my WRX. My fault. I ended up loosing a bolt and nut and half of one of the rubber bushing that fit into the end links. I was screwed. I emailed Tom for the bolt size and thread pitch so I could find another one. Without asking another question, within a week I had the replacement parts and a complimentary Kartboy T-shirt. It service like this that sets Kartboy and All Wheel Engineering far and away one of the classiest and most respectable places to buy parts and get service. My hat is off to Tom and all those at AWE.

It is no reason why you are so successful and your business has grown the way it has.

Thanks Tom

I had great service with Kartboy as well. Ordered online Saturday, products (shifter knob and bushings) were shipped on Monday. I had a question about install of the shifter knob. The crappy stock 2 piece STi titanium knob had broken and left the insert on the linkage. Tom responded quickly to let me know what I was looking at and how to proceed. Very good service and I love the knuckleball knob. The STi knob might have more bling factor, but the knuckleball is a much better driving piece. Gotta love the free stickers, tattoo and sucker too.... :)

Thanks Tom!

I had messed up the top two threads on the lever when I installed it. Not a problem with an aftermarket knob that has set screws. Well the screws backed out and the knob was stuck on loose and I had to drill out the collar to undo the set screws. Well I sent the lever back, thinking it would be repaired and he sent me a new one:eek:

I don't think anyone other vendor would do that. The service is first rate.

Last week when I was on travel I got to visit KB for a lil while. Not only do they make great parts, Tom is fun to hang out with in person. Got to see the pics of his old RS, along with the 2nd gear from an unfortunate incident with the stock tranny... Super helpful and great prices.

I have 5 KB products at this point -
-the yellow t-shirt - awesome...
-the short shifter - excellent and easy to install...
-the knuckleball - looks awesome in dark gray with the black sticker... I got the last one!
-the exhaust hangers - they are harder to get on than the stock ones, but the damn things just don't move!
-the bushings - need to install this

Anyhoo - can't say enough nice things - when I step up to STX there will be some KB endlinks in my future

My g/f just picked up a 97 L wagon, and I wrote in to verify if the shifter would work since I had read different reports on what would fit and what wouldn't. Tom asked me to take some pics of the shifter trim and email it to him. He checked them out and said it should work without a problem, but if it did to get in touch with him and we'd find a solution.

ALL the emails were answered VERY quickly and completely. I placed the order and received it VERY quickly with my l33t sticker and fireball (although the g/f got to eat the fireball instead of me... )

I can see it now:
"MOMMY MOMMY - Look what I got from that scary guy down the street!!!"

(Mom turns red, yells at Johnny, confiscates "treat," then hides the short shifter up in her nightstand... for later...)

I had to post in this thread.

Early thursday morning I placed an order for the shifter + bushings, and I received them this morning (saturday). I was expecting it to take a week, after all the I/C hoses I ordered from another vendor is going to take that long. In fact when I saw the box sitting on the table I had no idea what it was because I wasn't expecting my stuff to get here so quickly. so I just wanted to say AMAZING turnaround time  can't wait to install this stuff now hehe :)

Edit: I didn't see a fireball in with my order, but that's okay cause I have a guy at work who hands them out all the time.

I bought the KARTBOY SHORT SHIFTER the week after owning my 02 WRX. IT was my favorite mod for a while.

3 years later.................

I just bought KARTBOY ENDLINKS from a friend, I lost one metal washer. I contacted Kartboy to get me one via email, they asked for my address.

And ya know what!

3 days later I got it in the mail.

AMAZING PEOPLE OVER THERE!

My car is now a 3000lb go-kart and I love it!

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE & PEOPLE REPRESENT THAT COMPANY!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks,

I agree, Fireballs have teh suck. Tom kept egging me on to eat them because he thought I was a wuss for the pain. It's not that, I just hate artifical cinnamon. So....on my last day in San Diego, I ate one to shut him up! :)

I will say this though, it's little, cheap stuff like candy in an order that makes people remember a Vendor like Tom. He might not be a pretty man, but he sure is a clever.

Tom@Kartboy rules! He was extremely helpful in helping me figure out what to order for my short shifter and bushings (my wrx had the subaru short shifter pre-installed from dealer so it was not immediately obvious what i needed) and he got my order to me in record time. Oh and I got a fireball too but they are too hot for me.

P.S. How to mod an atomic fireball for lower temps:
1. Hold fireball between thumb and index finger.
2. hold under running water faucet
3. turn fireball between fingers under running water
4. continue until 95% of red coating has worn off.
5. Eat and repeat.

Note: in order to not blow a head gasket, you may want to install gauges to monitor your mouth temperature.

You know - Tom's a great guy and all, and I really love his stuff, but he's mean to toys. Remember that kid that always chewed on his action figures until they were just mangled. You know, that one kid that decided to chew the head off his Coba Commander or fed his Obi Wan to his dog? Well, Tom must have been one of those kids, and if you've ever wondered what they grow up to be like I can tell you.

Now, instead of chewing on action figures he just takes army guys and melts them with the mighty power of the atomic fireball (and probably a torch or microwave). Poor little army guys, they just wanted to serve in your evil empire with blind devotion to your evil, twisted whims, but you shun them and melt their defenseless little bodies with the blinding power of your fireballs.

Oh, don't worry, the army guys are planning, and one day they will seek revenge. I don't know when, and I don't know how, but one day, when you're least expecting it you'll turn around, and, BAM, they'll get you. Nothing can withstand the collective wrath and thinking power of hundreds of little green army guys. When that day comes no amount of atomic fireball power will be able to save you!! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!

Oh, and +1 for the Kartboy stuff. Great stuff, and a great vendor.

I was already a huge fan of Kartboy, since the 5mt shortshifter that Tom sells was the very first 'mod' I'd purchased for my car back in 2002. Since then, though, I installed a 6mt into my WRX, so I sold the 5mt ss and hadn't yet changed out the shifter on the 6mt.

Quick story....I was unable to attend the last meet the local Suby owners had, and I believe Tom and Ron/unabomber were there. I believe the meet was at Tom Wood Subaru in Indianapolis. I guess I won a drawing (in my absence) and received an email from Tom asking for my address so he could send me my prize. I told him that there was no need for sending it gratis, that I'd be more than happy to pay, since I was already a big fan of his products. He said that if I really wanted to pay something I could donate to the relief effort and to the ASPCA's relief effort. Too cool.

Well, they showed up today and I'm thrilled.

I already know that the product is solid.
I already knew that Tom is a class act, and a true businessman who puts his customers first.
I already recommend his product to anyone I can.

Thanks, Tom.

Kids always think fireballs will be good, then they can't handle it. An hour later, they want more fireballs. I used to have a jar of them on my desk and my nieces would do the same as your G/F's son when they visited.

My SS is sweet as well, by the way. I have the bushings and a couple exhaust hangers, to boot. No complaints, and lotsa happy remarks. Tom is probably about the best parts guy I have ever, ever met. He's really created a great business for himself through great quality and amazing customer service. He'll probably find this thread and give some humble commentary, shortly. If only all the vendors here were as obviously rad and shared the same fireball spreading business model. Just the fact that he's a lurker, here on Nabisco (and not just to sell bushings!), says a lot.

I make these comments in an effort to stay on topic, only. I really just wanna talk about fireballs, yum.

I have never had any conversations with Tom before. Both my orders (SS and knob last year; SS, knob and bushings this year) were over the internet. Just looking at the craftsmanship behind his work put him a level above the competition in my book.

A lot of vendors who feel they're the best tend to get the attitude that they're the best. That turns me off. A vender can have the best product in the world but if he's a dick, I have no desire to support him. I'd rather have a lesser product with better customer service. Especially with the amounts of money involved in heavily modding a Subaru.

Tom (and Jerry at deadbolt) are both men that have built their business' from the ground up based on an excellent product combined with fantastic customer service. It's a pleasure to do business with these guys even though it may hurt to drop the money. Some business' you feel the penetration when you hand over the credit card. Not these guys. The only thing left to buy from Tom is exhaust hangers but I just don't need them. Sad to say I think our business is done unless he offers more products or I buy another car but I look forward to doing more business with him if it arises.

I would also like to commend Tom on a well run business, and the attention he shows to his customers. Last week I emailed him and told him that my top mount bolt on the Kartboy RSB endlink either broke or lossened and fell off. I asked him if I could buy the rubber bushings and spacer since they had fallen out instead of buying a new set of endlinks. He replied to my email the same day and only asked for $5 to cover shipping on the parts which I sent him that day via paypal. I certainly didn't expect him to overnight the parts to me but he did. Now that is customer service. I just wish every vendor I deal with, from this site or not, would strive to serve their customers in this manner. Kudos to Tom for wonderful service and top notch parts. Would definately deal with him again and I will always forward people towards his products.

Thanks again Tom

I ordered a shift knob first, then the shifter and bushings. I encountered problems because I later found out that my car had the STi shift kit, and that I had ordered the wrong lever.
Tom answered my emails quicker than any other online company I have EVER dealt with. the products are great looking and performing. It is an absolute JOY to have someone so dedicated to customer service. It is just a super bonus to have the parts be every part as good as the service.
Any time I am in the market for a product that kartboy offers, I will be shopping there.

Ordered SS from Kartboy on 3-10-06. SS installed 3-13-06. Could not possibily be more happy with the prompt service.

Quality of lever seemed top-notch.

No directions included but for a WRX this was a simple replacment of a part, very self explanitory.

Fitament. The orginal shifter popped out with a little leverage. Installing the new one surprised me with the tight fitament with the ball and socket. I mesured the ball and it was exactly the same size as the factory piece. I used to be a carpenter and I couldnt pound the new shifter into the socket. After stopping an looking at it for a minute I realized I could used leverage to pop it back in. Unfortunately I was one of the people that had the linkage hitting that metal plate. I simply retated the metal plate 180 and bent the bolts that stick up out of the way with my fingers.

Order came with bushings which I've yet to install and a nifty little kartboy sticker. Although I'm not into the whole sticker thing the kartboy sticker was very tasteful.

Overall I'd highly recommend the kartboy lever and bushings. Install took 30 minutes, which would have taken 5 if I didnt run into problems reinstalling it. The prompt shipping and 3 dollar shipping price is unbeatable in my opinion.

Thanks guys!!!!
