Our current PERRIN Performance (http://www.perrinperformance.com) WRX headers (http://perrinperformance.com/products/show/209/Header-?category=6&model=18?nasioc) were used which are proven to gain HP across the RPM and increase spool RPM. For this show car I tried a new product. I coated the headers with VHT 2000 degree ceramic paint. I have been using this product on the last few projects with great success. Its simple, just clean the part really well, and spray it like paint. And for $8 a can you can’t go wrong.

While I was coating the header (http://perrinperformance.com/products/show/209/Header-?category=6&model=18?nasioc), I figured I would coat the exhaust housing, and uppipe (http://perrinperformance.com/products/show/210/Up-pipe-?category=6&model=18?nasioc) for the turbo kit (http://perrinperformance.com/products/list?category=5&model=2?nasioc).

It works pretty well, not as good as wrap, but it looks better, and at least cuts way down the radiant heat. If you have not tried it, go get some, $8 you can go wrong!

I never knew ceramic paint existed, I thought it was used to retain the color. Thats really awesome - I think i will give it a try before sending my stuff to a 300 dollar ceramic coat job =)

VHT is the brand, and you can find it in many auto parts stores. The professional applied coatings are very similar, but its how they are applied and or cured. For me it works great, you just have to make sure you prep the part really well!

What model number is the VHT paint you use? I can't seen to find the 2000f, all I see is the 1500f. Do we have to primer it first? Or just clean up the parts well, then spray the coating on? I think lots of ppl would like to know, haha.:D

Would that paint work alright for a quick job on a downpipe as well? And can you do a few coats to really add some thickness to it? I realize this isn't the point of the thread. But I've been reading through all your build threads for the 08' and it REALLY makes me want to go buy some lottery tickets so I'd have money for one. You're doing a great job with it, keep up the posts.

Absolutely on the DP! I just pulled off the header to do some sound clips with the stock headers and after a year of abuse its great!!!!! Its just so cheap and it works so well! But with that said, we have a little something in the works that will keep your PERRIN warranty and look really cool on the headers?
