View Full Version : PERRIN - H6_STI: Project Overview
PERRINJeff 10-25-2007, 02:39 AM http://perrinperformance.com/shared/images/forums/projecth6/banner_overview.jpg
PERRIN Performance was the first to stuff the Tribeca B9's engine into an STI for our surprise 2005 show SEMA show car. Using a huge Garret GT35R turbo, custom Supertech pistons, and a Hydra ECU the PERRIN STI was pushed to a modest 600 hp.

Nilesh 10-26-2007, 10:03 PM I remember reading about this car awhile back, the car is amazing. Did you guys have a chance to actually race the car? I remember reading something about how you guys sold the car, is this true?

Homemade WRX 10-27-2007, 12:25 PM there are EZ30's and EG33's in GC chassis'....just do a quick search and you find them. Of course none of them have really played with the engine at all.
mxpunk 10-27-2007, 07:18 PM ^ i know its been done a few times but i mean a gc with the perrin setup..
standalone + built h6 + gt4088r

The Perrin H6 STi was sold some time ago to a local gentleman and during it's most recent tuning session it was discovered that for all the mods in the car, it was only running a single Walbro!  . It came close to making 600whp on 110 octane, but could not quite get there as it ran out of fuel. A dual Walbro setup has since been fabbed and installed, so now the car should easily make more than 600whp, but to my mind there is no way that car should have been built with so little fuel pump capacity in the first place.
chris-man 10-30-2007, 06:54 PM this should be the stock STI setup :p
Meditek 10-30-2007, 08:06 PM That is a sleak color.

Nevre raced legally.... But yes, it wa driven very hard on my drive to work. It has lots of time, and lots of abuse with the new owner also. He told me he had plans to drag race it, and i can't wait to see what he does!

That is a very nice build!

Yup only one walbro. The single pump worked perfect up to 580, and only after that did it start to loose a bit of pressure. But we still got to 600 with safe AFRs. To be honest, there is no need on the 6 cylinder to do 2 pumps unless you are going way over the 580 mark. While its cool to say you have it, its not necessary. Same goes for 4 bangers, but that mark seems to be closer to 525-550. Tim Bailey was down there this last weekend tuning it, i think???
smurfwrx 10-31-2007, 03:11 PM aw man, that is SWEEEET! I wished I lived around a bunch of folks playing with this kind of stuff.
subyrally 11-14-2007, 04:25 PM wow, that is nice. kinda like what myself and a few others want to do in the old school community with the er27 engine, granted, reliability is questionable at best when turboing that engine.
i would love to do something like this in my impreza. hell, i almost want to do it just for the exhaust note.
j255c 11-14-2007, 05:32 PM go get a ride in a porsche turbo, i bet its similar haha.
PERRINJeff 11-14-2007, 07:42 PM But costs alot more!
mxpunk 11-14-2007, 07:44 PM ^ And doesn't have 4 doors ;)
subyrally 11-14-2007, 08:57 PM ^ And doesn't have 4 doors ;)
neither does mine. i love my 2door. just would love to have that set up going for it.
PERRINJeff 11-16-2007, 10:51 AM 2 Door STI, only in dreams we will see that again!

i hear you there. im just happy that i managed to get ahold of a 2dr impreza before they dissapeared. just something of beauty about a coupe. just wish mine at least had a turbo
I just wish Perrin were capable of tuning an OBD-I vehicle with an H-6 (SVX) for an N/A application. I wonder what kind of numbers there are to be had with the engine build I'm doing...
PERRINJeff 12-03-2007, 01:47 PM I bet there isn't lots of power to be had. But it would be a fun project! My Dad has an SVX......hmmmmmm.
markourn 04-29-2008, 04:44 PM Wow looks nice, keep up the good work
